Two WWTP Projects Successfully Completed in Egypt: Hamoly (Faiyum) and Komesyon (Kafr El Sheikh)
WABAG has successfully completed two Wastewater Treatment Plants in Egypt for national NOPWASD: The Komesyon WWTP in Kafr El Sheikh and the Hamoly WWTP in Faiyum. Both projects form part of Egyptโs national Haya Karima Programme, which aims to improve rural infrastructure and supports the implementation of the countryโs Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 6 โ Clean Water and Sanitation.
Hamoly WWTP, Faiyum: Located in the Faiyum Oasis, around 100 km southwest of Cairo, the Hamoly WWTP was handed over to NOPWASD on 3 November 2025. The plant has a capacity of 10,000 mยณ/day (expandable to 15,000 mยณ/day) and includes mechanical and biological treatment (extended aeration), disinfection and comprehensive sludge treatment.
Komesyon WWTP, Kafr El Sheikh: The new municipal WWTP in Kafr El Sheikh โ around 134 km north of Cairo โ was handed over to our client NOPWASD on 1 October 2025. The facility provides mechanical and biological treatment with extended aeration, disinfection and sludge treatment, with a capacity of 5,000 mยณ/day (expandable to 7,500 mยณ/day). By ensuring safe discharge of treated effluent, the plant contributes to protecting the Nile and supporting environmental and socio-economic development in the region.
Together, these two facilities strengthen wastewater infrastructure in Egyptโs rural regions and contribute to improved water quality, public health and sustainable development along the Nile.
A big thank-you to our dedicated project teams for their commitment and successful delivery of both projects.
Following the handover, the Fayoum Water Company held a small celebration and recognized our Project Manager for his outstanding commitment.
