WHAT IS MA!

Ma is a mix of three worlds and cultures: Asian cuisine, Spanish soil and Colombian passion. In japanese language, Ma (ま) can mean genuine, true, time and room (basically Ma! in all four concepts!). In most western languages its a sweet way to call your mother and mothers are also the very start of any fermented and living food. ‘Mothering’ is also a very common practice among cooks that have a natural desire to nourish and serve. Hence our name.

Ma! was created by a colombian chef and former designer, María José Mantilla, passionate about asian cuisine and fermentation techniques. She landed in Barcelona almost a decade ago and decided to gather great spanish produce and combine it with traditional asian methods to create rich, new flavors for everyone to cook and eat on everything!
