"This recipe is a keeper!" one reader said about our Everyday Pasta Sauce with Ground Beef and Chickpeas. We agree - and made it again last night!

This recipes uses just a modest amount of beef, with the chickpeas bringing a healthy heft to the dish. Last night we used some fresh tomatoes on hand along with a smaller amount of canned tomatoes.

We've been working on perfecting our Air Fryer Pork Chops recipe. Today, we are sharing the juicy results!

We headed to A Tavola to celebrate our anniversary the other night. I appreciate the fresh, local food and the warm hospitality!

An heirloom tomato salad with a glass of Prosecco was a nice way to start. I went for a pasta dish with halibut; Pinot Bianco from the Alto Adige was a good pairing.

Speaking of pairings, the Amaro recommended by our server was great with the dessert we ordered, a creative take on s’mores.

It so happened that Nouvelle Maison has their Thursday wine tasting next door, with our friend Susan L. Santos pouring some excellent Burgundies. So we stopped in for a little taste of some French wine before enjoying the all-Italian lineup at the restaurant!

Celebrating our anniversary today reminds me of the first meal I cooked for Jodi!

My cooking skills have advanced a lot in the ensuing decades. But back then, on one of our first dates, I was pleased to have managed to pull off a good fettucine for the occasion.

We still like to enjoy this creamy pasta dish, for the taste and the memories. Serving it with a good Chardonnay further enhances the meal, as we have enjoyed several trips to the wine region. Tonight we will let A Tavola do the cooking for us, but likely to make this again soon!

Slicing into a super-fresh local heirloom tomato had me thinking about some of my favorite recipes featuring tomatoes at their peak.

My Mac & Cheddar with Tomato Basil Salsa (first photo) was the first one that came to mind.

Of course, you can’t go wrong with a good Caprese salad! I like to double-down on the seasonality by serving it with some homemade pesto.

Need a quick summer dinner that doesn't require turning on the oven? This broccolini pasta comes together in about 30 minutes on the stovetop — garlicky broccolini, pasta, and Parmesan is all it takes. I've tested it with three different wines (white, red, and sparkling rosé) if you want a pairing to go with it.

Happy National Oyster 🦪 Day!

I’m a fairly new recruit to team oyster. Definitely coming around to enjoying a few local oysters with friends- Byron and Stephen in this case - along with a good glass of wine.

Row 34 is definitely a good place to enjoy them, and they have a good wines by the glass program. A Loire Chenin Blanc pairing this evening. Cheers! 🥂

I picked up a bottle of the Francis Blanchet “Kriotine”Pouilly-Fumé as part of a good French wine tasting lineup recently at Nouvelle Maison.

This gave me a chance over the weekend to do some more experimenting with pairings for Pouilly-Fumé. It worked quite well with tzatziki dip, and was also good with our salmon & pesto pasta.
