Why Choose the Lusonext System Over Traditional Ventilation
On most pig farms, no heating or cooling systems are installed.
During winter, the animals’ body heat partly maintains the indoor temperature (down to –5 °C). However, in extreme cold (–12 °C), the temperature inside can drop below 8 °C. Without ventilation, the CO₂ exhaled by the animals can exceed 2,000 ppm. Forced ventilation can remove this excess CO₂, but it also releases valuable heat and harmful substances — such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia — into the environment, causing serious air pollution around the farm.
In summer, under direct sunlight, the roof can heat up to 60–70 °C. This heat radiates into the barn and, combined with the animals’ body heat, can only be removed through forced ventilation. Again, this process discharges harmful gases into the atmosphere.
Animals thrive when the environment is stable: ambient temperature between 18 °C and 26 °C, and relative humidity around 60 %. When conditions deviate from this range, feed utilization decreases, growth slows, and the organic matter in manure increases. As a result, more hydrogen sulfide and ammonia are produced and released into the air, creating strong odors and environmental contamination.
A Comprehensive Solution — The Lusonext System
To address these challenges in a sustainable and efficient way, the innovative Lusonext system was developed.
The most effective method to reduce odor emissions is to eliminate forced ventilation and neutralize harmful gases (hydrogen sulfide and ammonia) inside the barns. This is achieved through a chemical wet-scrubbing process, which captures and removes pollutants from the air. The resulting salts remain dissolved in the washing water and can be safely handled through the existing manure management system, without any risk of secondary contamination.
The Lusonext system combines two essential functions — air purification and heat recovery. With continuous operation, no forced ventilation is required: air is extracted, purified, and returned to the same space, maintaining a closed air circulation loop. Continuous wet scrubbing prevents the accumulation of harmful gases inside, while only minimal, low-concentration emissions escape through natural dissipation.
Climate Control and Heat Recovery
A built-in heat pump ensures that the barn maintains optimal temperature and humidity levels. Each air-scrubbing unit includes an external condenser mounted on the roof, allowing heat to be safely released into the environment while maintaining ideal indoor conditions for animal comfort and productivity.
