Congrats to EESC - European Economic and Social Committee President and Secretary for launching the initiative with responsive Cypriot Members.
An opportunity to reflect on enduring Cypriot winemaking confronted by present-day administration, for progress and survival of farming communities.

While Commandaria is intimately tied to hospitality and the art of filoxenia, and Nama quite for a different ecclesiastic ritual - the “Cypriot Nama: Commandaria” exhibition does, invite us all, to reflect on factors that enabled Cypriot winemaking to endure during the last millennia and how the economic realities and administration of present-day farming communities. A call for less historical folklore and more attention to the systemic impediments in advancing progress is these highland dry-farming regions. The EESC was quite the appropriate venue in the context of upcoming work programmes for 2027 focussing on the resilience and much needed attention surmounting the disconnect of inland communities on Islands. Congratulations to all attendees and participants.
