Meet: Joan Riera Torres of Can Truy.
One of the island’s pioneers in organic farming, Joan has spent decades working the land here, guided by intuition: reading the soil, watching the sky, knowing his fields the way you know an old friend.
As the seasons have grown less predictable, Joan hasn’t chased shortcuts, he’s simply gotten closer to the land.
He treats farming as a conversation with nature: carefully adjusting crop rotations, patient irrigation and using zero synthetic inputs.
You can taste his wisdown in his melons... sweet, fragrant, ripened slowly under the Ibiza sun, and in his leeks, tender and mild after months of growing.

Joan, uno de los pioneros de la isla en agricultura ecológica, lleva décadas trabajando la tierra aquí, guiándose por su intuición: interpretando el suelo, observando el cielo y conociendo sus campos como se conoce a un viejo amigo.
A medida que las estaciones se han vuelto menos predecibles, Joan no ha buscado atajos, sino que simplemente se ha acercado más a la tierra.
Considera la agricultura como una conversación con la naturaleza: ajustando cuidadosamente la rotación de cultivos, regando con paciencia y sin utilizar ningún producto sintético.
Su sabiduría se aprecia en sus melones... dulces, aromáticos, madurados lentamente bajo el sol de Ibiza, y en sus puerros, tiernos y suaves tras meses de cultivo.
