Curious about Zongzi 粽子/ Joong 粽? Give it a try! 🎋🍱
Its Dragon Boat Festival 🐉(celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar), and that means it’s the perfect time to enjoy Sticky Rice Dumplings, known as joong (or zongzi in Mandarin).
Think of them like a Chinese version of tamales — glutinous rice parcels filled with savory (or sweet) ingredients, all wrapped in fragrant bamboo leaves and boiled until tender and flavourful. The bamboo wrapping infuses the dumplings with a subtle, earthy aroma that makes them truly unique.
While you can find frozen versions at Asian grocery stores, you’re in luck — you can try fresh, handmade ones right here in La Cañada, lovingly prepared by an experienced and very qualified Cantonese mama!
Offerings:
