Monday evening saw us join Arturo Giner (Masquecatas) and a group of wine lovers, sumilleres and others in Casa Patacona for the latest edition of his annual challenge to identify and describe wines.

This was not our first time covering the event but it was the first time we had been to its new venue.

The event, though taken seriously by the participants is a friendly occasion, starting with a showroom where the sponsors wines can be tasted and then the competition. The preliminary round reduced the contestants for the second stage with questions on the wines getter harder each time. Then we we were down to a final twelve hoping to win one of the four prizes.

The winner was the regular participant Marco Antonio Lozano Pérez….Congratulations Marco!

Ecxcellent presentation yesterday in Valencia’s marina under sunny blue skies and the sun!

Introduced by Ana Jara, ambassador for Cuenca’s tourism initiative and President of the Diputación Alvaro Martinez Chara with input from influencer Paula Monreal who gave a show cooking.

Later we moved from the terrace to enjoy lunch prepared by local restaurants from Cañete, Landete, Villarta and Cardenete.

Wines from 7 Lindes and Pago Alto Landon and local artesan honey, casquería and truffle products.

Inauguration and open day at the ‘new’ bodega Viña de Eufemia in El Pontón based in Finca Ardal. A project led by Hector Benvenuti, the open day was a great opportunity to visit the vineyards, bodega, enjoy a glass of wine ( or several) from the bodega’s range in the gardens or participate in a commentated tasting, enjoy lunch and visit a selection of stalls selling artisinal products and of course, the bodegas shop! @ @
