Our Story

Awash Wine Sc is the leading and long-standing wine making company with largest volume market share in Ethiopia with strong local brands which are intimately connected to Ethiopia’s heritage. The company has three heritages-two wineries in Lideta and Mekanisa and a wine farm of 517 hectares located in Merti Wereda, in Arsi Zone of the Oromia Regional State.

The company has been acquired by an international equity fund in September 2013. Since then, significant investments have been made to upgrade facilities and further improve quality.

We are a sole producer of Awash, Guder, Axumit, Kemila and Gebeta wine brands. Our products range is designed to fit the wallets and taste profiles of a variety of Ethiopians and foreigners alike. We are proud to have products that form the core of butchery-time mixing as well as those that are served on first dates and at 50th wedding anniversaries. To us at Awash, it is our culture to provide wines for every occasion and that celebrate Ethiopian history and progress.
