he owner of Castel winery. The wine estate is spread across some 162 hectares with the grapes having been planted between 2008 and 2009. The winery started bottling its vintage wine in 2014, with the goal of producing a quality wine meeting international standards. Castel’s vineyard has an annual rainfall of about 650 mm and average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius per year. The region has sandy soils, these are good conditions for the development of quality wines and could in a few years' time enable the country to compete with other largest wine producing countries. Total annual production at Castel Winery stands at 1.2 million bottles while the Company reportedly plans to increase production. The expansion is based on the plan to expand export destinations in Africa, US and Europe. The Castel vineyard boast exclusively planted with international grape varieties that are Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. Most of the 750,000 vines planted in these vineyards were imported from Bordeaux (France). Currently, Castel winery produces two ranges of wines under the brands of Acacia and Rift Valley. The products are bottle wines and also Bag in Box.
