A big decision and letting go…
INTRODUCING ORIGINAL LAGER
For almost seven years, this beer has been known as Mäkilager. If you’ve visited the Hill of Kakola, chances are you’ve had a pint. It’s been poured at every Kakola location (on tap only, never bottled) and has made up a lion’s share of what we’ve brewed.
Earlier this year, life forced us to hit pause after the fire. It gave us the chance to ask ourselves what KBC really is, and what we want it to stand for. We didn’t want to reinvent ourselves. We wanted to become clearer, more focused and more honest about who we are.
We realized our favourite lager had been right in front of us all along. Over the years we’ve refined it together with locals, obsessing over every little detail until it became exactly what we wanted it to be. If there was one beer that deserved to represent KBC, it was this one.
So we’re finally bottling it. And Mäkilager is now called Original Lager.
Same recipe. Same beer. Just a name that finally reflects what it has always been: our essence.
Alongside it comes a refined visual identity that reflects the next chapter of KBC. Huge thanks to the brilliant Mikael Kivelä, who brought KBC 2.0 to life.
