Champagne Collet Australia

Champagne Collet Australia Champagne Collet founded in 1921, first arrived in Australia in 2015. It is today the legacy of both Raoul Collet & Champagne’s first ever co-operative COGEVI.

Champagne Collet indeed takes its name from Raoul Collet, who, with the support of several other vineyard owners, essentially saved Champagne’s reputation for quality. Earlier in the century the wines from Champagne were enjoying unprecedented success with the drinking public. However, unscrupulous producers were buying in fruit from outside the region and bottling it as Champagne. This in effect

drove down grape prices for the local growers, to the point where there was no future in it unless something drastic was done. Thus in true French style local growers rallied together and led by Raoul and his group, instigated a revolution a.k.a “La Revolution Chamapenoise”

The governing body listened and subsequently put stricter regulations in place to stop inferior quality fruit from outside the region making its way into the wines. These rules still stand today and have made Champagne renown for quality and provenance. From there the growers formed what is known as the COGEVI. Champagne’s first ever co-operative and owners of Champagne Collet, elaborators of Premier Cru driven champagnes and inspiring dining tables since 1921.
