Walked by this shop several times during my stay in San Sebastián. Took a few passes before I understood what I was looking at.
Nobody other than staff goes inside. You stand outside, ask what they have, order what you want. Fruits, vegetables, wine, cheese, charcuterie, conservas, all packed into a tiny shop. Watermelon that’s ripe and ready? They’ll choose it for you. Cheese and a wine to go with it? Same thing.
We’ve gotten used to buying things without buying from anyone. This is the opposite. The person selling you the cheese has known the wheel since it arrived. The one picking the watermelon has felt fifty of them this morning.
That kind of curation is doing work no algorithm can do. I wish it were more common.
