It was 28 years ago... the French national football team became world champions for the first time in its history and entered into legend, Master of football. And meanwhile 28 years ago another Master in art - the legendary Monsieur Laporte from Pouchegu estate - paid meticulous attention to details: great care in the vines, perfect process in distillation, selection of high-quality new Limousin oak. His commitment to tradition and quality left a lasting legacy that we still honor today.

Now that the late ’90s stocks are coming of age, we are proud to offer the experience of a new phase in this master’s patrimony. Let’s explore the 1998 100% Ugni Blanc coming from single cask and bottled at full cask strength.

The color shows a dark deep copper. The nose is packed with pungent aromatics: honey, light-roast espresso, exotic fruits and sandalwood. The palate is juicy and exceptionally well-structured, with a lift and brightness with honey, dark underbrush, exotic fruits and dried to***co notes. The finish expands into bold spice and deep cocoa and roasted nuances.

A departure from the more varnished character of the older vintages, perhaps, but a specific and deeply satisfying style in its own right. Not for all the palates of Pouchegu aficionados but a stupendous spirit delivered straight to your glasses.

La distillerie a fermé ses portes au début des années 2010, et ses précieux fûts ont été rachetés par un domaine voisin, Hontambère… C’est aussi ça, le monde des spiritueux : des arrêts, des renaissances et de belles aventures à partager 🔥
