March, you beauty. The month of Mama’s day (pinching, still), my birth month, an hour more of daylight, Magnolia street confetti, woods that smell of garlic, seed trays taking residency on windowsills, of Eid feats with family, taking meals outside, of lot of fun!!

The most indulgent solo trip away, thanks to Emile. Time to be me and, the giftiest of all the gifts.

Planning an for the ‘back before midnight thing’ with the best women I know, but throwing out the curfew with abandon. Recommend getting a bunch of nearly 20 women, (majority being Aries rams) together on a dancefloor.

New courses, new workshops, new beginnings that I’m looking forward to sharing in time. THIS is where the new year starts 🌱

Winter, are you done? Ready for cooking outdoors again in beautiful locations like the beautiful walled gardens. Spending most evenings at the moment curating my dream medicinal and culinary herb garden (heavily enforced by Hamnet 💔)

Also, parenting is a ride. One minute you’re seeing Underworld two nights in a row and refusing to take off your band t-shirt to preserve the (ridiculously bonkers good) memories, the next, you’re booking tickets for In the Night Garden ‘live’

Although I’ve cooked pizzas outside with a head torch on in a frosted garden this winter (great way to spice up a boring mid-week), I am over the rain and READY for some sunny pizza parties again.

Here’s my tandoori prawn pizza with sweet pickled fennel, developed for .uk . I suggest dunking it into a side of garlicky ghee. You can get the recipe and see me cooking up by searching through the Ooni archives 🍕

A bit of the end of last year and very beginning of this one 💖

A cosy, off-grid cabin became our New Years bolthole. Zero signal, wood-fired hot tubs in the snow, saunas under a Wolf moon, murmurations at dusk, up with the song thrushes, reading books out loud instead of tv, making dens, snow-dusted Devon Moors, a nice long social media cleanse and time to reevaluate what’s important for the fresh year 💚

Eating highlights: duck Xmas dins, almost as many bottles of champagne as days in the week, oysters for breakfast (baby too), lobster surf ‘n’ turf which I didn’t get to eat half of because babs is a lobster monster, EXCEPTIONAL Yule log - maybe best choc dessert I’ve ever made, crab toast and fizz breakfast, annual chocolate salami, cheeseboards still going strong into mid Jan.

The reigning season of hug-a-bowl-food. Lots of legumes in some soupy form. Lots of poached windfall fruit. Lots of clean up as 1 year old becomes at one with stew and curry season 🤝

Slow roasted tom, fennel, harissa and tahini bean stew
Pumpkin and orange salad with tahini whip, gremolata, fermented chilli sauce, almonds and olives
Very lemony, very garlicky, chickpea and spinach bone broth
Chicken and fennel meatball and broth
Last of the tomatoes, egg and coconut curry
Leftover Pakistani-style saag mixed with chana masala made for a happy lunch
Hot Turkish yoghurt soup
Squash, braised fennel, beef sausage and a honey, mustard dressing - heavy on the tarragon
Garlic and pickled ginger broth with sticky rice and tea eggs
Tomato, chicken and orzo broth
Chicken, anchovy, capers, olives and dates
Poached quince with sticky ginger cake and creme fraiche
