François Rabelais a toujours su s’entourer de personnes puissantes. Ce qui lui a été utile pour se sortir de mauvaises passes...
En 1533, le cardinal Du Bellay charge Rabelais de l’accompagner dans son ambassade à Rome, en tant que médecin et secrétaire.
Il naviguera de France en Italie régulièrement pendant plusieurs années. Au service de personnes importantes, il perpétue ses activités de médecin, d’auteur, d’enseignant. Il devient également père. Et il renoue même avec l’habit de curé !
La “polyvalence” dont fait preuve l’auteur est une caractéristique essentielle au métier de vigneron. Chaque jour ses missions sont variées et nombreuses : viticulture, vinification, administratif, gestion des ressources humaines, commerce, manutention, entretien du matériel, etc. On est loin de la dolce vita !

François Rabelais always knew how to surround himself with powerful people. This proved useful in helping him get out of tight spots...
In 1533, Cardinal Du Bellay commissioned Rabelais to accompany him on his diplomatic mission to Rome.
He travelled regularly between France and Italy for several years. Whilst in the service of important figures, he continued his work as a doctor, author and teacher. He also became a father. And he even returned to the role of parish priest!
The ‘versatility’ demonstrated by the author is an essential characteristic of the w**emaker’s trade. Every day, his tasks are varied and numerous: viticulture, w**emaking, administration, human resources management, sales, handling, equipment maintenance, and so on. It’s a far cry from the dolce vita!
