Stuart Pigott is many things and certainly one of the most original wine critic. After years of work with James Suckling where we met, he just lauched his own wine rating and stories newsletter where Beaujolais plays a big part. Here it is on Fleurie! Cheers and long life to Stuart!
Extract from our last encounter :
The last time I was at the Château I discovered something else significant: the family has been making wine for generations, but they sold most of the production in bulk. Then came the crisis, and they started aging their wines, also in oak barrels, before bottling. It was then that they developed their unique wine style. So, this isn’t a dusty, ancient tradition as the slightly old-fashioned style label might suggest, rather another example of innovation in the region. It was also then that the name was changed from Domaine Monrozier to Château les Moriers.
