Le Domaine Souviou se situe en Provence près du village du Beausset (Var). Il s'étend sur 85 hectares de vignes, d'oliviers et de forêt qui surplombent la mer Méditerranée. C'est un lieu riche d'histoire depuis plus de 1000 ans et un véritable conservatoire de 7000 oliviers qui se dressent majestueusement sur des restanques et attestent de cette époque. ccolée une chapelle à "ailes d'ange" ont séduit Danièle Darrieux, une actrice française très connue dans les années cinquante, et celle-ci fût propriétaire de ces lieux pendant quelques années. Aujourd'hui, le Domaine Souviou est la propriété de Roger Jaar, polytechnicien et homme d'affaires international, amoureux de la Provence et qui s'attache à restaurer ce Domaine avec tout le respect de l'histoire et de la nature. Domaine Souviou tells a story through its many vestiges of the past. A beautiful 15th century chateau ("Bastide") with a chapel anchors the property. More traces of history are found among the water wells, stone terraces and even bee walls. Many of these ruins have been restored by owner and Polytechnic Engineer Roger Jaar, allowing guests to experience the way of life on the Estate from centuries ago. In walking among the 85 hectares of the Estate, you may feel like you have been transported back to the era of Renaissance. Beyond the grape vineyards, the rolling hills full of olive trees and the Roman courtyards, Souviou includes many hectares of untouched woodlands. The 7000 olive trees rise majestically above the many hills. When you finally reach the peak of the Estate, the Mediterranean Sea sparkles in the distance. The placement of the vineyard blesses the grapes with full sunshine, year round, from dawn to dusk. Part of the charm at Souviou Estate is to see the traditions carried on: everything is done by hand, honoring the art of French oil and wine making.
