🍷 AOP ou IGP : quelle différence ?
Sur une bouteille de vin, ces deux sigles peuvent sembler bien mystérieux… Pourtant, ils racontent beaucoup de choses sur l’origine et la façon dont le vin est élaboré.
1️⃣ AOP – Appellation d’Origine Protégée
Elle garantit un lien très fort entre le vin et son terroir : le lieu de production, les cépages et les méthodes d’élaboration sont encadrés par un cahier des charges précis.
2️⃣ IGP – Indication Géographique Protégée
Elle garantit également un lien avec une zone géographique, mais offre davantage de liberté aux vignerons dans le choix des cépages et certaines pratiques de production.
Alors, AOP ou IGP : laquelle choisir ?
Il n’y a pas de meilleure appellation : tout dépend de vos goûts, de vos envies… et surtout du vin dans votre verre. 🍷

🍷 AOP or IGP: What’s the Difference?
On a bottle of wine, these two acronyms may seem quite mysterious… Yet they reveal a great deal about the wine’s origin and how it’s made.
1️⃣ AOP – Protected Designation of Origin
It guarantees a very strong connection between the wine and its terroir: the production location, grape varieties, and winemaking methods are governed by precise specifications.
2️⃣ IGP – Protected Geographical Indication
It also guarantees a link to a geographical area, but offers winegrowers greater freedom in their choice of grape varieties and certain production practices.
So, AOP or IGP: which should you choose?
There’s no such thing as a ‘better’ designation: it all depends on your tastes, your preferences… and, above all, the wine in your glass. 🍷
