Best sounds? Saved until last. (And some are very scary!)
People always imagine vineyards as quiet places.
Sometimes they are. Sometimes they really aren’t.
Birdsong, tractors, the bottling line (the ‘bottle dance’), the printer running customised labels for our clients, us talking (always too much!) every sound here means something is happening. Something is being made.
Someone asked me recently what the scariest sound at a vineyard is. Without thinking, I said: helicopters.Because it means frost is here, and someone is fighting to save their harvest.
This is what Canon Chaigneau sounds like. 🎧

Some pairings were obvious. Some might surprise you. A few we’re still not sure about.
Le Rosé, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, pale pink, floral, with that lively freshness that makes it dangerously easy to open on a Tuesday.
This is our honest (and a bit subjective) take.. Yours might look completely different. That’s exactly the point.
What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve paired with a rosé? Drop it below, we’re genuinely curious.
Part 2 coming soon! Which wine should we do next?

When I became a mother, we started looking for a vineyard.

Our son was just a baby when we started visiting wine estates across France and Spain! He came to vineyard visits, tastings and harvests before he could even speak.

A few months after deciding to take over Château Canon Chaigneau, I found out I was pregnant with our daughter. She was due right around harvest. Somehow, she waited until our very first harvest as vineyard owners was over before making her entrance.

Looking back, motherhood and this vineyard have grown side by side. There was no perfect timing, no long maternity leave, no pause button.. Just a lot of uncertainty, hard work, exhaustion… and joy!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums building families, businesses, dreams… or simply doing their best every day. ❤️

Bonne fête à toutes les mamans.

Château Canon Chaigneau ticked almost none of our original boxes! 🙃
Looking back, this vineyard search was a lot less glamorous than it sounds…
At one point, Romik quite literally almost fell down a hillside (see slide 4 😂).
We visited more than 25 wine estates across France, and even into Spain, with a toddler in the backseat, takeaway sandwiches between appointments, and absolutely no certainty we’d ever find “the one”..
And we weren’t looking for 21 hectares, nor were we looking for a project quite this ambitious.

But some places (and in this case, wines and terroir!) stay with you long after you’ve left.

But some places (and here in this case, wines and terroir!) stay with you. Even after you’ve left.

🇫🇷

Vineyard life. Family adventures. Bordeaux. Wine. Terroir.

A few years ago, we were simply dreaming of a (small?) vineyard.
Today, bottles from our corner of Lalande-de-Pomerol travel far beyond the vines:
Singapore, Spain, England, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Cambodia…
Not because we planned a global brand.
But because wine has a beautiful way of creating connections, conversations, and unexpected journeys.
This is only the beginning of “Canon Chaigneau, Elsewhere.”
From Lalande de Pomerol, Néac, to everywhere life takes us!

Here’s why this appellation might just be Bordeaux’s best-kept secret. 👇

There’s a corner of Bordeaux that most people walk right past. Lalande-de-Pomerol sits just north of Pomerol, separated by a tiny stream. Before 1925, its wines were sold as Pomerol. The soils haven’t changed. Just the name, and the price tag.
Iron-rich subsoil. Nearly 2,000 years of winemaking history. And a plateau that produces some of the most complex wines the right bank has to offer.
But how we ended up here? That’s a whole other story. 👉 [coming soon]

The answer surprised us. 🐴🍷

Three Years of the Horse. Three Canon Chaigneau vintages. Same zodiac. Same vineyard. Same grapes. But the same wine?

Like many brands, we’ve embraced Chinese New Year partly for the visibility it brings. But honestly? Something deeper kept nagging at us.. Being a lot@in Asia recently, we’ve been genuinely asking ourselves: do vintages from the same zodiac year actually share something? We went back through our own bottles to find out.

“A grape is just a grape”… said no winemaker ever.

Here at Canon Chaigneau, nothing ripens at the same speed. Different parcels. Different maturity levels. Different decisions.. every single year!
Sometimes a grape is powerful enough to stand alone. Sometimes it belongs in the blend.
(And if you made it to the last slide… that’s the philosophical moment 😉)

Now tell us 👇
When do you think Cuve 1a will return next?

Parfois on assemble.
Parfois on ose isoler.
Selon vous, Cuve 1a reviendra en quelle année ?

The wine world is evolving, and so are we, and so is the reality of being a winegrower today.

At Château Canon Chaigneau, we’ve chosen to face these changes in our own way. By staying close to what we do, by keeping our communication honest and human, and by doing as much as possible ourselves, even when it would be easier to outsource everything.
Social media, our website, our blog… they’re not just marketing tools for us. They’re a way to share what happens behind the scenes, to explain our choices, and to stay connected to the people who drink our wines.

We also choose carefully who we surround ourselves with. Not to dilute our identity, but to strengthen it, with the same values of independence, transparency and long-term thinking.

Being a winegrower in Bordeaux today isn’t a straight line. But adapting, listening and evolving have always been part of this job. And it’s a journey we still deeply believe in.
