Íslenski hesturinn er víðförull! 🐴🌍
Á sýningunni „Hesturinn okkar: Litbrigði, ættir og saga“ má sjá þetta skemmtilega kort sem sýnir útbreiðslu íslenska hestsins um allan heim 🗺️📍
Íslenskir hestar voru fyrst fluttir úr landi sem vinnuhestar fyrir mörgum áratugum síðan. Tugir þúsunda hesta voru fluttir frá Íslandi til að vinna í kolanámum, aðallega á Bretlandseyjum 🪨⚒️
Upp úr 1950 hófst hins vegar útflutningur reiðhesta, og síðan þá hefur íslenski hesturinn notið sívaxandi vinsælda og orðið eftirsóttur um víða veröld 🧭💫

Originally exported as working horses, tens of thousands were sent from Iceland decades ago, to labor in coal mines, mostly across the British Isles 🪨⚒️
But from the 1950s onward, the focus shifted to exporting riding horses, and since then, the Icelandic horse has steadily grown in popularity and now proudly roams across the world 🧭💫
