Today’s post is not about my meal (even though I’m happy about it). It is all about my first DIY backdrop! Went strolling at BHV, a paris department store well known for their hardware level and found some wall decoration stickers sold by meters at a very reasonable price. Picked out two and went upstairs to the crafts department and bought two pieces of foam boards (which happens to be about the same size as the stickers). Rushed home and stick them together, persuaded that I would create bubbles during the process but surprisingly, it was so easy and the result was so perfect that I think I’ll be going back soon to get more. I was never a huge fan of tofu except for the « stinky tofu » which is a street food very popular in Taiwan. However I always a have piece of it in my fridge because it’s one of the ingredients for my vegetarian dumplings. Continuing my healthy meal program, I decided to make it pan fried by coating a very thin layer of sweet potato flour and put the pieces on a layer of blanched kale leaves. Mixed up some soya sauce, sugar, sesame oil, dark vinegar, spring onions and mashed garlic as a dip on the side. It was a cold November morning when a childhood memory came back to me. The weather was grey and rainy, mom was too lazy to cook so she sent me running over to the restaurant next door and order my favorite wonton soup for lunch. It was served in a light broth with a few pieces of salted vegetables. 兒子女兒都愛吃麻糬和月餅。中秋節過了,月餅就買不到了。於是自己創作了這個蓮蓉蛋黃麻糬。自己炒蓮蓉醬,買生鮮的鹹鴨蛋來烤,用日本麻糬粉做大福。沒想到還真有一番風味。不甜不膩,真材實料,融合了月餅和大福的風味。吃起來比月餅爽口。剩下的麻糬就自家把花生搗碎,拌點糖做成花生糖粉,包在麻糬裡,截然回到小時候在街上等買麻糬的阿伯,三輪車上發出「滴滴答答」的聲音。真是回味無窮啊。

It happened when I put an empty jar that I used to put my minced garlic to wash. For a week, my washing machine stank of garlic. Impossible to make it go away even after several washing cycle. So I started putting my used lemons by sticking them on the upper level and the smell quickly faded. What's left of it was a very pleasant smell and my glasses and dishes looks and smells cleaner.
