[Nubia]
From 7 to 11 September 2026, the International Conference for Nubian Studies, which brings together specialists in the history and archaeology of Nubia every four years, took place at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

Our colleague Marie-Paule Jung (Éveha International, UMR 5608 Traces) presented the first results of her PhD research, carried out as part of a CIFRE partnership between Toulouse – Jean Jaurès University and Éveha, in a paper entitled Mapping Medieval Nubia: a GIS of the Christian Kingdoms’ settlements.

Her research, based on a Geographic Information System (GIS), highlights the number and diversity of domestic settlements dating to the period of the Christian Kingdoms of Nubia (c. 600-1500).

We would like to thank the conference organisers and all the participants for the many stimulating and fruitful discussions!

16e conférence internationale Nubian Studies: Lived experiences, diverse traditions and human and non-human agents throughout the ages à Münich.

We are thrilled to share that our colleague, Blandine Besnard, has led an educational workshop for young people at the French Institute in Jerusalem.

This initiative introduces participants to the ongoing research at the ancient Tulul Anabta site. Through hands-on learning—including the excavation of "test pits"—children are not only discovering the meticulous science of archaeology but also connecting with their rich local heritage.

A wonderful moment of sharing and discovery!
