His descendants Raymond and Paul Lillet, merchants of fine wines, liqueurs and spirits, founded Lillet in 1872. They created Bordeaux’s first and only aperitif, kno

wn as Kina Lillet until the 1970s when it became simply Lillet, a blend of Bordeaux wines and handcrafted fruit liqueurs produced in Podensac. Podensac, a small village south of Bordeaux, is the birthplace of the Lillet aperitif, a subtle blend of rigorously selected wines (85%) and of fruit macerations (15%) handcrafted on site.

“Le Blanc Amer”
• 2 parts Lillet Blanc French Apéritif
• ½ part Suze Gentian Liqueur
• 1½ part Beefeater Gin
• 1 dash Fee Brothers orange bitters

Stir with ice until well chilled.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a lemon peel.

• 2½ parts Lillet Rosé French Apéritif
• 2½ parts sparkling grapefruit soda

Build in a wine glass over ice.
Stir gently to combine.
Garnish with a fresh grapefruit slice.

RIDING THE PINE
• 2.5 parts Lillet Rouge
• 2 parts gin
• 2 parts passion fruit syrup
• 1 part fresh lime

Shake with ice and serve with a torched rosemary garnish.

Serves 2.
