A Bath of Light — Biodynamic Preparation 501
On May 28th, during the vine’s most energetic phase of growth in the Hermitage vineyards, we applied biodynamic preparation 501 in the first light of the morning.
Finely ground into a talc-like powder, preparation 501 is nebulized into the cool morning air at dawn. By reflecting the purity of the day’s earliest sunlight, it carries the formative qualities of light into the microclimate surrounding the vine, stimulating photosynthesis and supporting a more precise and harmonious expression of growth.
At this pivotal moment of the season, the plant responds by arranging itself with greater geometric order, opening its canopy to receive and metabolize light with precision and constancy.
Beyond its relationship with light, biodynamic preparation 501 is also a remarkable regulator of the vine’s water balance, helping it navigate the dynamic interplay between light, heat and transpiration.
A bath of light for the vines, applied during their most vigorous period of development, giving a gentle push toward the geometric architecture that will shape the season ahead. 🌱✨🫧
