Farewell to the legend that is Bill. We wish him every happiness as he retires after 35 years. 🥂

This month, we wish Bill McRitchie a very long, very happy, and very well-deserved retirement.

Bill started as a Butcher at Donald Russell here in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, an incredible 35 years ago. Since then, Bill has been an instrumental part of our company across most of our nearly 50-year history.

Over the years, he has witnessed significant changes in the meat industry, and today, Bill is passing on his invaluable knowledge to the next generation. Here he is pictured with his grandson Irvine, ensuring that the craft of traditional butchery is carried forward.

To mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation thousands of individuals and organisations across the country are getting together to give us all the chance to help out in our own local communities.

On Monday 8th May we are planning to give our colleagues a ½ days annual leave but we are also encouraging them to use the other half day to participate in a volunteering capacity. They may organise this as individuals, in teams in the areas where they live, or here in Inverurie, Kintore or London where we are based.

We are reaching out to organisations for opportunities to do something on that day. If you know of an organisation that could do with some helping hands, please consider if we can help. It could be an opportunity for one person or a team of up to 20 for anything between 2 and 4 hours. In our run up to Christmas, our On Call Contact Centre team, located in Harlaw Business Park, Inverurie, are recruiting additional members of the team to answer telephone calls and enquiries from both new and existing customers.

We have both Monday-Friday and Weekend working patterns available. The hours are flexible. Can you work during the normal opening hours? They are:

Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm
Saturday - 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday – 10 am – 4 pm

The role is an on call role with a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours in any week. Full flexibility to be able to cover the opening hours as above would increase the likelihood of more hours being offered. As we ramp up to Christmas, the ability to work 20 - 37.5 hours per week would be preferred, but not essential.

As the “voice” of Donald Russell, applicants should possess exceptional communication skills, with an ability to display confidence, patience, tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult situations. As this role involves processing financial transactions for our customers, all successful applicants will be required to undertake and successfully pass a basic Disclosure Scotland check.

We're inviting you, our closest neighbours, to be our first guests! Come along and meet the team, sample some of our award-winning, handmade sausage rolls and buy some delicious food to take home with you on the day.

If that's not enough to whet your appetite, you'll also get a FREE pack of sausage rolls with your purchase. This will only be available on the day, in person.

Please note: Our Kintore site is a live operational facility so we would strongly advise customers to arrive by vehicle. Please see parking and further instructions below.

We are currently recruiting for On Call Sales Advisors based within our Contact Centre at Harlaw Road, Inverurie. As the "voice" of Donald Russell, you will be responsible for processing customer orders over the telephone and assisting with customer queries, both on the telephone and online.

These are fixed term on call posts - so no hours are guaranteed, however, a minimum of 10 hours per week will be offered, with the option of additional hours, up to full time (37.5 hours per week), if available. The Contact Centre is open Monday - Sunday and weekend working may be required.
