The sign of “true spring” a male orange tipped butterfly. One of the first butterflies that does not over winter to emerge hence why they can act as spring indicators. They usually emerge between 28th April and 7th May at our woodland farm so this year signs a very early spring. Be interesting to watch it progress.

Allium Ursinuim best known as Wild Garlic always a great plant at this time of year. Love it in pesto, made into salt or powder or added to sourdough and scones. One of the easiest forage plant in woodlands as its smell is so distinctive.
