Southdown Commercial Rams for Monmouthshire Livestock Centre Fair day sale tomorrow

Thick and powerful rams that will produce easy finishing lambs. Outstanding width and depth of muscle on these rams. Great for use over ewe lambs but more than capable over any ewe

One of our leading yearling ewes in her first time in a show ring. A Beiliau Rex daughter out of our most successful ewe Beiliau Rihanna winning reserve breed champion at the national show 2022, twice reserve female champion at the royal Welsh and also breed champion at Usk Show.

🏆Reserve Breed Champion
Beiliau WonderBoy 26/18514
The best Ram lamb we’ve bred to date. A Prescoed Monet son and out of a homebred ewe by De Pibrac 18/00299 and out of a Percheron Daughter. Looking forward to see what this lamb can grow into

Thank you to the judge Josh Evans for taking the time to travel down

Here’s a look at our latest addition to the flock.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿Upland Dash 26/00372🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We purchased Upland Dash privately this summer from Jamie Stiles.

1st placed ram lamb at the Royal Welsh 2026, and is a son of the 2025 Royal Welsh breed champion Upland Belle. And on his paternal side he is a grandson of Napoleon, whose other grandsons include breed record holder Ridings Illustrious Dragon.

A great upstanding and correct tup lamb with good width and depth of muscle throughout. Looking forward to see what he grows into, and then what offspring he can produce using the new bloodlines he brings into our flock.

The first time this years ewe lambs have seen pigs 🐷 and I don’t think they know what to make of them

Safe to say the piglets are easier to get onto the trimming stand than the lambs

Southdown lambs out of our Aberfield and Aberfield x Suffolk ewe lambs

Lambing outdoors thanks to the easy lambing of the Southdown lambs while still providing great growth rates and carcass quality

The stock Rams are enjoying the sun. Not short of meat with these boys

Southdown Commercial Success

We are into the final group of lambing 2026 here with just 135 Aberfield x Welsh ewe lambs remaining, which we lamb outside and have all gone to our homebred Southdown tups.

This year have a selection of Suffolk cross aberfield ewe lambs with the main Aberfield replacements

We have great success using our Southdowns over our commercial ewes along side our homebred Ile De France tups. With both breeds offering us
📈Great growth rates
✅Carcass quality, which is vital as all lambs are finished on farm.
✅Good Vigour at birth

Proof that Southdown tups are at home in a commercial system, both indoor and outdoor.

We have selection of yearling tups available this summer which are suitable for both pedigree and commercial uses
