A flashback from our visit last month at Domaine Apostolidi with our group exploring Assyrtiko, Vidiano, Malagouzia, Agiorgitiko and Karapapas. Great hospitality by Apostolidi family with such a warm welcome and an amazing traditional home made Greek dinner.
The after party in Kavala was also memorable, with some of us dipping in the Aegean sea in the late evening.
Good bye until next time Bulgaria and Greece!!!

A few hours during our trip in Bulgaria and Greece spent with the team at Bratanov Winery / Винарна Братанов in Harmanli, the birth town of our own jolly merchant Georgi, getting to know more about wild spontaneous fermentation, Tamyanka, Rubin, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, Viognier, craft use of oak ageing etc.

Such a great time of our group in Plovdiv with Radostin Milkov and Petar and Gergana Georgievi of GEORGIEV/MILKOV WINERY, with an in depth insight into what Karlovski Misket, Rubin, Dimyat and Mavrud grape varieties are about.
The after party at Kapana was also memorable!

In 1924, Marko Cota came home from America and dug a cellar three metres into the rock by hand. A century later, his great-grandson Petar is still making wine the same way — organic, minimal intervention, most times with no sulphites at all.
Grown on the steep, sun-soaked slopes of Mount Promina, cooled by the Krka River and the Adriatic breeze, these are wines with real character: fresh, honest, and unmistakably Dalmatian.
Four generations. One philosophy: let the land speak. 🍇🌊 🇭🇷

And a nomination for oenologist of the year by the Union of Bulgarian oenologists for Petar Georgiev of another core winery of ours - Georgiev/Milkov!

Идва ред и на последната по ред, но еднаква по важност номинация: родом от Пловдив, неговият път в света на виното започва от един винен бар в студентските му години, където се сблъсква с огромното винено разнообразие по света. След като завършва УХТ започва формирането си като енолог първо в Санта Сара, а после в изби в Австрия и Нова Зеландия. Така до 2010-та година, когато става част от екипа на Винарска изба РосИди, където до ден днешен създават едни от най-авангардните и разпознаваеми български вина. Страстта му към автентичните български сортове обаче намира своето проявление в неговият проект georgiev/milkov , където заедно с Радо Милков успешно експериментират и създават модерни вина от Мавруд, Рубин, Червен мискет и Памид и вярват, че вината от нашите си сортове имат потенциала да бъдат първи избор във всяка винена листа.

Georgi Vankov, the head winemaker of one of our core wineries Винарска изба Одесос / Wines of Odessos is one of the nominations for enologist of the year in Bulgaria.

Както обещахме, започваме от днес представянето на номинираните колеги за приза "Енолог на годината".
Първата номинация отива при един представител на "новата вълна" енолози в българското винарство: млад човек, завършил УХТ пред недалчената 2014-та година и навъртял от тогава солидно количество кампании, както в България, така и в някои от най-престижните лозаро-винарски региони в южното полукълбо: Марлборо в Нова Зеландия, Ривърленд и Бароса валей в Австралия, Майпо валей в Чили и не на последно място- Северното Черноморие, България. През 2020г. заедно с брат си стартират семейния проект Винарска изба "Одесос", като много бързо се превръщат в едни от най-разпознаваемите лица на техния регион. Успоредно с производството си, организира и множество винени събития и фестивали, имащо за цел популяризирането на вината от източно-черноморския регион и повишаване на винената култура на публиката.
