And with that the 2026 competition season has come to an end

Feeling incredibly grateful to share the floor with Charles Price at ATHX GAMES Liverpool today

We had a game plan.. some of it worked and some of it didn’t..

the big takeaway is that the main focus of both our training over the past 3 months paid off in a big way.. Dean Hammond | The Catalyst Project nailed everything we asked of him, thank you brother

There are of course things to work on and build from but all in all I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude

One massive feeling is in my head right now and I don’t know who needs to hear it other than me..

The absolute animals you see at these events are quite literally extra-ordinary

You know who i’m talking about..

The jacked, shredded, Strong AF.. Fast as F*ck.. no holes in their game.. carbon shoe wearing, nose strip donning phenoms that show up and dominate..

They really are the top of the field and I will openly say…

I am not in that bracket.. and I probably never will be…

And that’s fine…

I’m a husband, father, coach, business owner and dreamer who tends to spin far too many plates for far too long until they come crashing down

The athletic ability that I have is quite simply.. average…

I’m a really good try-er and I’ll give everything I’ve got when called upon..

I’m show up at competitions because I enjoy them.. not because I’m going to win..

And the icing on the cake? Today I competed in front of my wife and daughter for the first time and it filled my heart with joy..

Yours sincerely…

A true everyday Afflete

This one means the world

I’ve been in corner for over two years and the journey he has been on is nothing short of nuclear

from initial fat loss to a performance shift and then annihilating any endurance event he puts his mind to Rob’s journey has been one that everybody could learn from

Timing again he shows up… operating above 90% in everything he does and is one of the most consistent men I know

He has one thing on his mind every day - consistently adhering to the basics and never missing

He executes the strategy to the letter, and when he sets his mind to doing something you better believe he gets it done

It’s an absolute pleasure to be Rob‘s nutrition coach and what he’s going to achieve over the coming years is going to make what we’ve done so far look like the warmup

Rob personifies everything I look for in somebody who wants to perform at their best

Never aiming for the sexy hack that doesn’t make any difference

Always focusing on his fundamental basics that setting him up for success

Because he knows in the end that relentless push in the right direction means one thing and one thing only

Success, no matter what he sets his mind to

Right now, I’m actively taking on everyday athletes into the PERFORMANCE PATHWAY

If it sounds like something that you’re interested in, drop me a DM and we’ll chat

No automated hook word here just me and you chatting about food

In 10 days time I take the competition floor for the final time this year at ATHX Liverpool, alongside Charles Price in the open men’s pairs category

And genuinely for the first time I can say

I’ve prepared myself properly

I’ve put in the work

Focused on improving my weaknesses

Committed to being as adherent as I can to the basics

Left my ego at the door and just done the work

1 session missed in three months

Sleep average above 7 hours daily

Hydrations average above 3 litres daily

All of it to see what I can do when I set my mind to it..

Make no mistake about it.. I am NOT an athlete

Nor am I trying to podium

I went into this preparation phase with one thing in mind

Leave No Doubt

I can wholeheartedly say that I have done everything in my power to perform at my best for this event

So whatever happens when we step onto the floor, I know my preparation isn’t a factor

I’m excited to take you all along for the ride, showcase how I prepare for the event and what I do nutritionally

Be sure to keep an eye on my YouTube page for the full video of competition day

In today’s video, we dive into a week of my training as I am a few weeks out from ATHX Liverpool.

I put in the solid work over the previous training block and feel excited to tackle the competition floor for the last time this year.

I want to show you all how specific my training is at the moment, targeting the best possible performance at ATHX Liverpool, the reality of where my fitness is at right now and what I need to work on

Breaking down the individual workouts inside ATHX and my thoughts on where my strengths and weaknesses lie.

I could not be more excited to enter this competition for the third time this year, and I know that I’ve given my best during this training block to prepare me for the event.

Sweat is more than just water

During hard training; particularly long sessions, hot conditions or anything producing the aftermath you saw in this video causes loss of electrolytes.

Sodium is the primary electrolyte lost through sweat, which is why simply replacing water may not always be enough.

Each serving of HYDRATE provides:

400 mg sodium
96 mg potassium
A sodium-to-potassium ratio of approximately 4.2:1
3 g taurine

Sodium helps maintain fluid balance and supports nerve signalling and muscle contraction.

Potassium also contributes to nerve and muscle function, but is typically lost through sweat in much smaller quantities… hence the sodium dominant formula.

Taurine plays a role in osmoregulation: the process through which cells regulate their fluid and electrolyte balance.

At 3 g per serving, it’s included at a meaningful dose rather than being sprinkled into the formula for the label.

But this isn’t something everybody needs after every workout.

It’s most useful for heavy or salty sweaters, prolonged or high-intensity sessions, hot environments and multiple session training days.

If you’ve barely broken a sweat during a short, easy session, water and a balanced diet will probably cover you perfectly well.

This is my second favourite hydrate flavour, (all hail cola cubes) and it’s bangin.. not too sweat and not too salty.. just right

Don’t forget to use the code REDBEARD at checkout to save yourself some monies

The beard itself may now be considerably less beard—but we’ll address that another time…

LINK TO VIDEO IN MY BIO

In this video, I take you along for the ride for the Catalyst Project summer training camp at Mikes Gym Marbella, ran by Elite Retreats.

It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done from a fitness perspective and it tested me physically and mentally to my limit.

Running, obstacle course racing, old school strength training, bouldering and even mountaineering thrown in for good measure this 5-day training camp had everything we needed.

There’s plenty of me falling over, failing to traverse obstacles, and being humbled at every occasion.

Let me know what you think in the comments below, because I’ll definitely be going back, and this time next year I’ll be in a far better position with my performance.

Yesterday I was at the Red On 12 event hosted by Red On - Endurance Events - Backyard Ultras

12 hours

As many 5k loops as you can do either individually or in teams of three

But I wasn’t running…

I was Crew Chief for 16 athletes of The Catalyst Project Headed up by Dean Hammond | The Catalyst Project

16 athletes with 16 individual strategies

The build up

The ex*****on

The recovery

Every feed window accounted for .. gram for gram

Fall back options for when things go wrong (which they did)

On hand at any point over those 12 hours enabling the athletes to perform there absolute best (which they all did)

I could not be more inspired by the athletes I crewed yesterday.. pushing themselves physically and mentally to their limits and then some more after that

Every time standing up and heading to the start line, ready to grab the baton from their team member and give their all for the team.. most of them running further than they’d ever ran before

Dean pushing himself further and further. Running a lap with EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of The Catalyst Project team throughout the event, Leading by example and showing what is possible when Mental Fortitude is embedded into your soul. You see the standard in this industry brother and I’m in awe of your effort

The Catalyst Project Community coming together showing what the everyday athlete can do when they set their mind to it

In short, I was in my element.. enabling others to showcase their abilities in an event that requires nothing short of maximum effort

I love what I do.

Last month I supported six athletes at the Backyard Ultra at Cheltenham racecourse

It was the biggest event in my year so far and I knew when taking on the role of crew chief for the six athletes I had to be at my A game

During that event, I witnessed people pushing themselves beyond their limits to see what they had in the locker when all thoughts of perfection left their mind

All that matter to them was putting one foot in front of the other on the next yard

Fuelling effectively was a great thought for them in the beginning, but as the time wore on all that mattered was that they continued

That’s why I had to make sure I had everything squared for each of these athletes to perform at their best

The planning preparation and trialing that happened in the months prior to them stepping on the start line made all the difference

We didn’t just turn up on the day and hope that it would work

We practice practice and practice some more the fuel strategies that they were going to utilise during the event

We worked on how different foods worked in conjunction with each other

We worked on how their stomach reacted hours after beginning a session

Could they continually take on that same amount of food?

Where were the pinch points and what were our emergency strategies to navigate these?

Trust me when I say…

Not one of those athletes executed their written down strategy to perfection…

No plan survive first contact

So we had to execute on the fly with back up an emergency strategies that we knew we could fall back upon during that time

I’m blown away by every single one of those athletes and what they achieved

And I’ve got multiple more athletes already signed up for next year’s event

So it looks like I’ll be done in the crew chief role again

How wrong I was.. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

At least there’s some moody photos of me competing right? Isn’t that what it’s all about really 🤣🤣🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
