✨ The little details make all the difference… ✨

Just before Bramham, I spotted this stunning new show shirt from TKM Equestrian Le Grande/ copel1k , and I’m so glad I did and just had to purchase!

When I mentioned we were heading to Bramham, they went above and beyond to make sure it arrived in time. The level of customer service was exceptional – they even sent me videos of the shirt being worn so we could discuss sizing and ensure the perfect fit.

The shirt itself is just as impressive. The sparkle detailing on the collar adds the perfect touch of elegance, while the pleats sit beautifully under a competition jacket to create a sophisticated, modern look.

The fabric is lightweight and breathable, making it incredibly comfortable to wear, and the hidden shoulder zip is such a clever feature. It makes the shirt easy to fasten while keeping the focus on the beautiful collar and pleat detailing.

I always love supporting new businesses, but it’s even more rewarding when the product quality is matched by such genuine, personal service.

Safe to say this won’t be the last piece I add to my competition wardrobe. I can’t wait to see what this lovely new brand has coming next.

Lovely trip to Bramham Horse Trials for the showjumping today!

Kansas IIZ jumped in the Foxhunter and put in a lovely round.
He had one mistake at the first fence, as I think he was a little distracted by the atmosphere, and then I made an error in the jump-off which resulted in a stop and time faults.

Although it doesn’t look great on paper, I was absolutely thrilled with him. Aside from those little mistakes, he jumped a fantastic round, grew in confidence as we went, and we both learnt a lot from the experience. Our first time going in at Foxhunter without a warm up class.

Another event ticked off the bucket list, and we rounded off an enjoyable afternoon with a bit of retail therapy around the trade stands!

It’s always lovely when the owners of youngstock we’ve bred get in touch with updates.

Last week, we received a wonderful message from the new owner of Ailby Balius, known to us as Meeko and now called Elvis.

Today is actually his birthday as he popped on up the memories this morning so thought he deserved a little shout out.

✨ Zandor x Balou Bless (Baloubet du Rouet) ✨

He was the one that was meant to stay, but due to personal circumstances I had to make the difficult decision to sell him.

Receiving messages like this and hearing that he’s grown into such a dream horse makes it all worthwhile. Seeing our horses thriving in their new homes is exactly why we do what we do.

Born in the early hours of this morning, we welcomed another handsome c**t to the world.

A lovely c**t by Kansas, out of our Selle Français mare by Lando.

Both mare and foal are doing well, and we’re looking forward to watching him fill out and grow over the next few days.

This leaves one more exciting foal left to foal in a few week’s.

Listening to the shut_up_and_ride_podcast and hearing Simon talk about blasting Abracadabra by Lady Gaga before his badminton XC got me thinking…

What song do you listen to when you need to get into the zone before a competition, challenge, race, or big event?

For my half marathon, i found it was Mr Brightside that got me through the wall and over the finish line.
As for riding, I’m not sure I’ve found “the one” yet. I’ve got a few favourites, but I think the plan is to put together a playlist, test them all out, and see which track comes out on top when it matters.

With mine and Kenny’s big challenge just around the corner, I need some ideas. When the nerves start kicking in, I want to be able to stick my pods in, enter the bubble, block everything else out, and focus on the job in hand.

At 2am (first photo of the first light) this morning, during foal watch, I was incredibly grateful for the new lights that Kennett Electrical and Compliance Ltd installed for us a few months ago.

We can honestly recommend Kennett Electrical and Compliance Ltd for any electrical work. From the initial consultation through to installation, the service was professional and the difference their work has made to the yard has been huge.

For years we’ve managed with very little lighting on the yard, relying on torches and trying to see what was going on in the dark. Anyone who has done late-night checks or foal watch will know how challenging that can be, especially when you’re tired and trying not to miss anything important.

The novelty still hasn’t worn off of being able to walk into the yard and have it feel like daylight at the flick of a switch. It has completely transformed the space, making everything safer, easier, and far less stressful during those middle-of-the-night checks.
During foal watch especially, it’s been an absolute game changer and something I’m thankful for every single night.

As for our expectant mum, she’s still stubbornly crossing her legs and keeping us all waiting! Every little sign has us wondering if tonight will be the night, but for now the waiting game continues.

Of course, there’s no rest for us even while we wait. The breeding season is already in full swing, with visiting mares arriving and the teasing and covering programme well underway as we start planning for next year’s arrivals ! And obviously the competition boys are in full work training for their upcoming competitions.

If your horse was a human sportsperson, what sport would they do?

While out hacking yesterday evening, I decided Kenny would absolutely be a speed walker!

What was supposed to be a leisurely post-schooling cool-down stroll in the evening sunshine quickly turned into an Olympic-level power walk. But let’s face it, that’s Kenny all over – always somewhere to be and no time to waste! (Yes the videos are real speed)

Not quite a jog, definitely not a relaxed amble… just a determined, fast-paced march with that unmistakable side-to-side wriggle those speed-walking athletes have. The more he powered along, the more convinced I became that this would definitely be his event.
I could almost hear the commentator: “And Kenny is making excellent time down the final stretch!” 🤣

It’s funny how our horses all seem to have their own personalities and quirks that would fit perfectly into different sports if they were human athletes.

This handsome c**t foal is by Kansas IIZ and he’s already carrying some of his sire’s trademark features.
If you know Kansas offspring, you’ll probably have spotted the giveaway — those adorable little black spots on his socks that seem to get passed on time and time again! 🖤

We’re absolutely delighted with this little chap and can’t wait to watch him grow and develop over the coming months. He’s full of character already and is proving to be quite the eye-catcher.

A huge well done to the two people who guessed correctly! 🎉

Now comes the difficult part… choosing a name! 🤔
