A much better week weather wise and the first sign of some Daddy longlegs last night around the lakes,
The fishing has been on and off and coping with the strong wind gusts seems to have been the biggest conundrum. The best flies this week have been Diawl Bachs by a country mile fished using the drift to maximize the area covered.
I think this coming we will see more top action as wind levels drop away finally, especially if the evening brings more Daddies out on to the lakes.
We have topped up stock with another batch of good fit fighting rainbows and will continue to do.

The last few days have been very tough to fish but amazing to watch, early evening especially, in the seventeen years here at the fishery I have never witnessed such large Mayfly hatch's on the lakes and river, but the fishing has been difficult to say the least, it seemed like the Trout could sense the imitations and nail the true Mayfly as it landed on the water.
The hot temps through the day also made it difficult for some fishermen but for the luckier fishermen Diawl Bachs and damsel nymphs fished slow and deep have produced results . Before the few really hot days we saw a big increase in surface takes to small Black gnats and I would expect tactics to remain the same through June as temperatures drop back to normal, we also have a little rain early this week which always brings new life back into the lakes.
We have another batch of Rainbows ready to go in and will continue to monitor returns to keep the stocking levels high through the month.
We also have a few items in the shop on sale this month so please ask when booking in if you are after anything.

The improving weather conditions have really help fishing numbers to the net. We are seeing large numbers of Hawthorn flies in the willow trees around the lakes which intern blow onto the lakes throughout the day, and a well placed fly will be rewarded with some good hard fighting sport.
Buzzers fished slow in the drift have also taken good numbers of trout, the water temperatures rising will also help with more hatches and put more rainbows on the feed.
We publish daily in the Mill our closing times and as the evening draw out we are seeing more and more evening rise fishing which is great after a long winter.

Towards the end of last week we started to see some Hawthorn activity on the lakes and this weekend it really kicked off, and with the lighter winds and sunshine this coming week I would expect to see some more prolonged periods of good top action fishing.
Buzzer fishing also produced some good numbers this weekend fished slightly into the breeze and allowed to drift across the lake proved a great tactic.
As the water temps continue to rise so does the activity in the lakes and river, finally we are leaving the winter behind us so it would seem.

Nice to see the sun shining

Well the weather again seems to be the enemy this week but for those that have come and put up with the wind and the odd shower have caught some nice Rainbows, but looking ahead Sunday looks like the start of a steady week of weather.

The best catches have been taken with green flash damsels closely followed by bloodworm and diawl bachs.

We have been working hard and now have some real quality Rainbows up to size and we will continue with weekly stocking at the moment as catch numbers rise but as the resident fish start to return to the upper layers to feed we will monitor returns to keep everything topped up.
Don't forget to glance in the shop we have a few deals on tackle available just ask a member of staff if there is something you are looking for .

Great to see constant weather of the last few days has livened the fish up that now appear to be feeding well, Some mixed results around the fishery last week, but this week already numbers are climbing and fishermen are being rewarded with some hard fighting Rainbows.
Some good fish caught on Buzzer and small nymph set ups, as you would expect and cats whiskers have also done well this week.

We shall be adding stock over the next few days to keep in line with the catch numbers that continue to climb to help keep the returns at a good level.
We have also had several Grayling caught from the river as the water clarity returns after the recent heavy rains.
Don't forget to ask in the shop about Reels, Lines, Flies and leader that we have on offer.

The month is off to another wet start and fishing seems to be between the weather windows at the moment although it does appear to be getting better as the month progresses which will be welcomed by us all not only for the Fishing, we can get started on tidying up from the winter weather.

We have been quick to get the bungs on the lakes when the river clouds up which means they remain clear and ready to fish, On the days when the river is clear then have a cast for the Grayling which have given some good sport early on this year.

We have some new fly lines and Flies available in the shop ready for the season ahead.

The fishery will be closed on Saturday 11th April for a Private Event. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

As the year comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to thank all our fishermen that have visited us this year for their continued support, It has been good to see many familiar old faces and also many new faces that have joined us this year.
We wish all of you a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New year.
As you know we don't close over the festive period so if anyone wants to try a Christmas present out or just get some fresh air you are very welcome.
We have just topped stocks up in the lakes as we continue to get good numbers being caught, it would appear that they are not deep yet and best results this week have caught on the top or only a couple of feet down.
The weather also appears a little more settled but you do need to wrap up warm.
