Today is National Farmers Day, and it feels like the perfect moment to say thank you to the people who work so hard behind the scenes to keep our plates full and our countryside thriving.

Here in Northumberland and Ingram Valley Safaris farming is part of the landscape, the seasons, the food we eat, and the communities we love. From early mornings and long days to weather that rarely plays fair, our farmers do so much more than most of us ever see.

So today, let’s take a moment to appreciate them, support local where we can, and remember the work that goes into every field, farm shop, market stall, menu and meal.

Tag a local farmer, farm shop, or producer who deserves a shout-out today 💚🌾

AURORA ALERT: Look into the sky Northumberland!

Our resident astronomer Dr Adrian Jannetta FRAS captured this stunning display this evening, purple and green curtains dancing over the horizon.

Why the colours? Green = oxygen at ∼100km up, Purple = nitrogen at higher altitudes - all caused by solar particles hitting our atmosphere.

The nature trails offers a gentler kind of adventure, with a little of the charm of the Hundred Acre Wood. As you wander beneath the trees, you can almost imagine Pooh Bear and his friends setting off along the path, discovering something wonderful around every corner.

And when it’s time to pause, the wind settles near the café, offering a calmer corner to warm up, enjoy a hot drink and watch the hills roll quietly beyond.

The new Winnie-the-Pooh stamps will be released on 14 October, making a delightful addition our postcards sent from your own countryside adventure. They would be perfect for sharing a little Northumberland magic with someone special.

Because a safari isn’t always about blue skies and sunshine.

Sometimes the most memorable adventures happen when the wind blows, the clouds gather and the wild countryside reminds us just how magnificent it really is.

So wrap up warmly, pull on your favourite woolly hat, bring your gloves and embrace a little wild weather with us.

🍁 After all, there’s no such thing as an ordinary day in the wilderness.

10th October - World Mental Health Day

It’s World Mental Health Day. 🌾💚
No pressure, no grand declarations just a reminder of what a bit of fresh air and big skies can do for the mind.

Stepping out onto the hills, breathing deeply, and simply putting one foot in front of the other has a remarkable way of resetting things.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to get outside today, this is your sign 🥾 Ingram Valley Safaris pop into Ingram Cafe and check out their walking routes
