Not quite sure how we got to weaning already!
The time sure did fly by since these little porkers were born but bless her heart little Mumma Bean sure was ready for it!
We are still in awe at her careful commitment as a first time mum and she’s gotten all 11 piglets to weaning age looking fabulous.
The 3 girls are making their way to Devon with us, two to fatten and one’s a keeper.

So it’s time to find the 8 boys new homes….

We’re super proud of Noah for his care of his first brood of bangers since their arrival.

Many reasons to celebrate today…1. We passed our annual TB test!! 🥳2. This means our herd can come with us!!That’s right...

Many reasons to celebrate today…

1. We passed our annual TB test!! 🥳

2. This means our herd can come with us!!

That’s right we’re MOO-ving!!!!

We’ve taken the amazing opportunity to buy a little farm in Devon, right on the edge of Dartmoor!

So us humans are packing up ALL our animals and moving to our own little place in the world within the next 60 days!

Feeling a little overwhelmed by what’s to come but my goodness we all need this move!

8 days ago we welcomed Noah’s first litter of piglets from his beautiful gilt Bean.

11 little oinklets made their way into the world under Noah’s watchful eye and he remained with them until 2am, even nursing a weak one back to full health.

Bean is being an amazing first time mum to this crazy little brood who have kept us in fits of giggles all week… how different piglets are to calves!!

One week on and all are still thriving and growing at a rapid rate! Good job Bean and Noah! ❤️

It’s always a privilege to catch the moment of those first few wobbly steps a newborn calf makes and that’s just what Willow and I were privy to yesterday afternoon….

My favourite of the heifer gang, ‘Little Nosey’ as I like to call her or her posh name Shelseys Harry Olivia welcomed her first calf into the world.

Like with all Belties, the mothering instinct is so strong that she knew exactly what she was doing once little one was out.
Her ‘mothering moos’ soon brought about the rest of the heifer gang who were so keen to see this new arrival and Little Nosey was happy to let them smell and lick her precious little one.

We’ve never had enough heifers to keep them in a large group until this year and it’s been incredible to see their bond with each other form.
Each look to our oldest Beltie cow, Howe Mill Peaceful as their matriarch as she seeks a quieter retired life amongst these ‘teenagers’ 😂

So joining this heifer gang, I’m over the moon to say, is our first heifer calf by Arnie and another beautiful dun at that!

⭐️Brightstone Fraggle⭐️ will certainly pave the way for the future new heifers that Arnie adds to our herd!

After the rain bath time for gorgeous wee Frog 🐸
Salty is so attentive to her calves right up until weaning so we know this little guy is in safe ‘hooves’ with her as his mum 😊

Whilst most cows are being brought in for winter now, our Galloways, both Riggits and Belties are thriving outdoors!
Always satisfied on the grass no matter what time of year 🥳

Celebratory butt scratches for the man of the hour!

This bull of ours provides me with so much joy…. The fact that when spotted in the field, he will amble over, reverse his bottom and present it for a scratch!

It makes me wonder, do we somehow always choose ridiculously hilarious creatures or do we in fact manage to turn them that way?!

Whatever the ways of it, I’m so thankful for all of them and how they really do brighten up our world 😊

Saltway Zoe aka Salty FINALLY had her calf and what a little cracker he is!!
No doubting who his dad is and it’s fair to say we are over the moon with Millbrook Arnie’s first addition to our herd!

I still can’t believe we have managed to have calves of all the Beltie colours this year …. What a dream come true!

As we are on F names this year, the kids have opted to call this little dude Brightstone Frog 🐸

Willow’s new girl, Autumn, has settled in so well with us over the past couple of weeks.
She’s got a great temperament to match her pretty looks.

Willow bought her as another investment for herself going forward. We are pretty proud of her for wanting to put her calf sales money back into buying herself some more heifers.

This little lady is due to calve in the spring to a Shorthorn bull so let’s hope for another little heifer!

Finally got all my heifers in a row 😂

Sorry, it had to be done!

All the Beltie heifers + a very heavily pregnant Salty together soaking up the morning sunshine and a gentle breeze after last night’s storm.

Will be lovely to FINALLY breed from our own heifers now that we have Arnie as our stock bull.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Simmentals ever since I moved to the farm and they had a Simm bull running with the dairy herd. I just love their teddy bear ears and gentle natures.

Fast forward 16 years and I now have one of my very own!

Andrew and the kids made a trip to market Tuesday to sell some stores and brought home two Simmental heifers - one for me and one for Noah and Willow bought herself a little in calf Beef Shorthorn heifer.

It was a total surprise and one I’m so grateful for ❤️

So introducing little Panda 🐼 who’s only 6 months old!

We’ve been a little quiet of late for a number of reasons but the biggest is that I’m splitting my time between normality and processing how poorly my dad is right now. He’s fighting his hardest against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 😫

Sometimes life likes to throw us a few unexpected and unwanted curveballs and it takes these to make you aware of how fleeting life can be.

It also magnifies all the amazing things around us and for these we are so so grateful!

Just got to keep on keeping on!
