Cosy season is officially here and honestly, we’re not mad about it.

There’s something quite nice about swapping the kitchen table for a warm workspace, getting a proper few hours of focused work done and rewarding yourself with a ridiculously generous slice of cake from Force Café.

Add in good coffee, superfast WiFi, plenty of tea, Lakeland views and the option to stretch your legs around Ambleside when you need a break...

Working through autumn suddenly feels a little more appealing.

Sometimes it’s not about completely changing HOW you work. It’s just about changing WHERE you work.

If the darker mornings and same four walls are starting to get a bit much, come and spend a coworking day with us at Kelsick Grammar. We'd love to welcome you!

Hundreds of people walk past this building every week. But how much do you actually know about it?

Kelsick Grammar has been part of Ambleside’s story for well over a century.

The building was constructed in 1906 using money from the Kelsick Educational Foundation, which was created from the will of John Kelsick after his death in 1723.

His legacy was intended to help young people in the local community fulfil their potential through education.

The school opened in 1907 and remained Kelsick Co-educational Grammar School until 1965, before later becoming part of Charlotte Mason College and the University of Cumbria.

So when you walk through the doors today, you’re stepping into a building with generations of local history behind it.

Parents, here’s your friendly reminder: October half term is incoming.

You want to spend time with the kids. But there are probably a few things on the work list that really do need your full attention.

Rather than squeezing them into the gaps between days out, muddy walks and “Muuuum/Daaaaad” every five minutes, why not carve out a few proper hours to focus?

Book a hot desk at Kelsick Grammar in Ambleside, get your head down, get stuff done, then close the laptop and get back to half term properly.

Half day £12 | Full day £24
Unlimited tea, coffee & biscuits | Superfast WiFi
Soundproof pods when you really need to concentrate

A little focused work time can make the rest of half term feel much more like half term.

If you know you’ll need a few quiet hours this October, it’s worth getting your desk booked early.

Take this as a sign to upgrade your lunch break...

Because a working day doesn’t have to mean eating something quickly at your desk before opening the next tab.

At Kelsick Grammar, you can get a focused morning’s work done, then properly step away from the screen.

Grab lunch or a coffee from Force Café.
Head out for a walk around Ambleside or up to Stock Ghyll Force.
Take in the views.
Then come back feeling a little more refreshed for the afternoon.

You’ll still have all the things you actually need to get work done, including superfast WiFi, a professional workspace and plenty of tea and coffee.

But sometimes it’s everything around the work that makes the biggest difference.

So if working from home is starting to feel a little too much like… well, being at home, come and spend a day with us. 🙌

Book your coworking desk at Kelsick Grammar via our website. We can't wait to welcome you!

When did your team last have a conversation in person that couldn’t happen properly on Teams?

Sometimes you need to get the right people together in a room.

To make a decision.
Work through an idea.
Plan what comes next.
Or simply have a proper conversation without the usual distractions.

And when the conversation matters, the space you have it in matters too.

Here at Kelsick Grammar in Ambleside, our meeting rooms are designed to give teams the time and space to think properly, from smaller meetings of up to 6 people through to team sessions of up to 16, plus our Assembly Room for larger gatherings and events.

You’ll have all the practical things covered too, including superfast Wi-Fi, large screens and everything you need for video calls and hybrid meetings.

But it’s the things around the meeting that can make the difference.

Natural light. Lakeland views. Good coffee. Lunch from Force Café. And the option to step outside, stretch your legs and come back to the room with a clearer head.

So whether you’re planning a strategy day, client meeting, workshop, interview or team catch-up, give yourselves somewhere that helps the conversation along.

A great workspace is one thing. Friendly faces who make you feel at home are another 🫶

Meet some of the brilliant team behind the warm welcome at Kelsick Grammar.

Sam is our brilliant Office and Facilities Manager and looks after the day-to-day running of Kelsick, including our meeting rooms and coworking spaces. But even Sam deserves the occasional day off, so when she’s away, you may find one of these lovely ladies stepping in to look after you!

Michelle is our Accounts Assistant and one of those people you can always rely on. As well as helping out on reception, she also looks after the finances for Force Café.

Hannah is Assistant to the Boss, supporting our CEO in all sorts of ways. She’s been at Impact since 1999, so if you ever want to hear a story or two about how Impact has evolved over the years, grab her for a brew… if you can catch her during a quiet minute.

Kathyann is our Head of Digital Transformation, managing Impact’s global IT team and helping to keep everything running smoothly around the world. She’s also incredibly passionate about Impact and somehow still finds time to bake for Impact Aid too.

And Abi is our Senior Project Manager, although in reality she’s so much more than that. Culture Ambassador and Fun-Time Specialist probably sums her up best.

So whether you’re booking a meeting room, settling in for a coworking day or dropping by for a tour, there’s a good chance one of these lovely faces will be there to welcome you.

What do James Bond, AI, turtles and resilience all have in common?

They’ve all been topics of discussion on recent episodes of the Impact Podcast.

If you’re looking for thoughtful conversations on leadership, change, human connection and the future of work, we can't recommend it highly enough!

Recent episodes explore:
• How leaders can win attention through storytelling
• What it really means to lead in complexity
• When even James Bond isn’t enough
• How to keep it real with AI
• Why change fatigue is very real
• Why resilience takes a village
• What turtles, hospitality and human connection can teach us

Whether you’re leading a team, navigating change or simply curious about what helps people and organisations thrive, there’s plenty here to get you thinking.
