10 YEARS SOBER TODAY! 🎉🎊

Wow! This day was impossible to visualise at many points on this journey and unthinkable in those early days, weeks and months.

I cant imagine where I would be right now if I had carried on drinking, it doesnt bear thinking about but my life has been immeasurably better since I stopped looking for answers in the bottom of a pint glass.

The 6th June 2016 was the day I came to terms with the fact that I was an alcoholic, putting it ahead of everything and everyone in my life.

I vowed to leave it behind and attempt to rebuild and seek forgiveness from those that I had hurt with my inebriated actions.

Not a drop has passed my lips since that moment, the same milestone since I last picked up a cigarette and last put sugar in my coffee 😅

I would never have made it past those early initial weeks without the support I received from family and friends after I came clean about my struggles.

Subsequently, many interactions via this page have added to that support to see me to this point.

There has been temptation along the way and moments I felt like pushing fast forward on life and turning off my thoughts for an evening would help but ultimately I know deep down where that would take me again.

This past few years have been a different challenge all together. But I know my old man would be proud of another milestone reached and the route life has taken me since.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me to this point and for those struggling, know there is hope, always someone to speak to and help available.

I promise not to say "when in Rome!" tonight as I peruse a trattoria menu celebrating with watching the Italian sun shine.

Might be a Peromi zero or due though*

What a fantastic winning combination. One of the nicest camp stove meals I’ve ever had. Kedgeree courtesy of Fell Foodie - Outdoor Cooking | Mental Health Speaker📍UK and his brilliant outdoor cookbook, perfectly knocked up in the Jetboil Trailcook.

Hope I did it right 🤣🫣🇳🇴

Was chuffed snowshoeing to the top of this fjell, Høgevarde (1,459m) when in Norway recently.

It was something id not done before, navigation was testing and even managed to cook up some lunch at the top.

Hiking skis to the top is definitely the way to do it next time though but found shoeshoeing a far less taxing way to do a snowy hike like this than just having boots on.

We wanted to make sure we were down before 3pm as we had been invited to Tempelseter Skisenter by the proprietors Irene & Sølve to enjoy a traditional Norwegian Waffle (I said pancake by mistake in the video)

Thankfully they stayed open for us 🤣 Takk!

One of many highlights from this recent trip to Norway with .banfield

Loved that my had a showshoe setting too 😍 (gifted)
