🍯 The Gold Rush is On!

The honey is absolutely flooding in this year! It has been a fantastic start to the season; the bees came out of winter incredibly strong and were clearly ready to dive straight into that early spring nectar flow. 🌸🐝
I've already got the first two honey supers nearly full, so I added another two today to keep up with their hard work. There’s nothing like the sight of a busy hive to kick off the spring!

Queen excluder looking clogged? Start with the basics 👇
Step 1: Grab your hive tool and scrape off built-up wax and propolis.
Work along each bar and edge — you’re not aiming for perfection yet, just removing the heavy buildup so you can see what you’re working with.
💡 Tip: Do this while the wax is cold — it comes off much easier.
Stay tuned for Step 2 🔥

A View of the Bay and a Taste of the Hive

Hello everyone,
There is a particular peace that comes with watching the tide at Bull Bay while the world is still quiet. Taking a moment to look out at that blue water before the bakery heat kicks in is as much a part of my process as the kneading itself.
This morning’s fuel is a bowl of jumbo oats with baked apples. I always leave the skins on; it’s where nearly half the fiber and the best nutrients live. I’ve finished it off with a teaspoon of my own local honey. Since my bees forage right here in Anglesey, you’re literally tasting the local wildflowers in every drop.
It’s slow fuel, a clear head, and the best of our local land and sea.
See you at the next bake,

All wooden nucleus colonies over winter with a sugar brick. Some don’t need the extra feed, this one will shortly be on its second!
