Arci's gotcha day. A year ago today I drove 4.5 hours to collect Arci for our new adventures together.

It was in the lap of the gods as Lexie our German shepherd girl and Arci had never met so it was up to fate.

We had lost our beautiful girl Star the previous April and Lexie was grieving and you could tell that she needed a new mate.

It sounds weird but I connected with Star spiritually and asked if she was happy for us to have another dog and the feeling I got was that yes she was so we went for it.

We had lots of communication with Saving Strays and it was arranged that we would have a pen and kennel to introduce Arci and Lexie slowly so that they could get a chance to see each other because unlike when you go to rescues here in the UK there wasn't the opportunity to be able for them to meet and have play dates so it was quite a tense but also exciting time.

I drove back with Arci and Lexie and him met tentatively when we got home.

Lexie was unsure and growling and we weren't sure what was going to happen so we decided to go for a long walk which I'd read many years ago was a good idea as it helps them calm down if there's any anxiety so we did that.

After the last first mile or so, Arci and Lexie were fine together and there have been difficult times with them but it's been about establishing a pecking order which has now happened and they are best mates as you can see from the video.

I just wanted to show our journey and so much love and thanks to Saving Strays.

11 months today we adopted our beautiful Arci. I can't believe it's that long already.

It only feels like yesterday I drove to Liverpool to collect our beautiful boy.

Watching him settle with our other beautiful girl Lexie has been beautiful journey. It's an honour to have these beautiful creatures in our lives and be their guardians. 🐺🐺
