Tirril Brewery

Tirril Brewery Based in Long Marton, near Appleby, Tirril Brewery offers fine traditional ales, refreshingly crisp

Every drop of our fine beers, ales and spirits starts life as Pennine rain, and poetically go on to become something that’s as beautifully unique as the countryside where it falls. We’re passionate about doing things properly, using only the very finest ingredients and respecting the traditions that were started when the original Tirril Brewery opened its doors in the 19th century. To us, being an

artisan brewery means something special – and it’s our mission to put the art back into artisan, with each and every drop being a testament to the cause. THE BREWERY

Our brewery is a special place where passionate brewers come together to create a range of Cumbrian beers that exemplify the art of artisan brewing. Tirril Brewery, as you know it today, started brewing again in 1999 – exactly 100 years after its namesake was taken over by local rival, Glasson’s of Penrith, in 1899. After popularity and demand forced growth and larger premises, the brewery has now settled in a beautiful Grade II listed, red sandstone barn beneath the Pennine Fells – that mirrors the character, charm and personality of the drinks which are produced here.

It is gin season here at the brewery and we are being kept busy.
Elderflowers and golden raspberries last month and now the rhubarb and raspberries have really kicked off.
Just in case making and delivering beer wasn’t enough to do!
