Leatherbritches Brewery Proudly Independent, Independently proud Leatherbritches is a small traditional craft brewery that was established at the Bentley Brook Inn in 1993.

Edward Allingham is both licensed brewer and director. Head Brewer is David Corbey. Why are we called Leatherbritches? Before the advent of sciene and technology, to determine the gravity of beers for duty to be paid to the King, the ale conners used to spill beer on the wooden benches and sit on it while they had their snap!! (lunch)..... they could then estimate the beers strength by how hard th

ey stuck to the seat. This means that they had to wear trousers capable of withstanding the wear and tear of the job. Hence they chose Leatherbritches......
