Meet Mo 😊 the man behind Mr X Food Co 👋
I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly and shared a little bit about the person behind the Mr X trailer.
I’m Mo, born in Budapest, half Hungarian and half Egyptian. I’ve lived in Hungary, Egypt, the USA and now the UK, and I speak Hungarian, Arabic and English.
Food and business have been a huge part of my working life. I’ve spent more than 10 years in food service, retail and multi site management, working my way up through the industry and today working at Regional Manager level for one of the world's largest service businesses.
But throughout all of that, I’ve always wanted to build something of my own.
Actually, Mr X wasn’t my first attempt.
Back in 2016, I bought an old food trailer with the intention of starting my own business. I spent money on equipment, certificates and getting everything ready, only to discover that the trailer itself simply wasn’t suitable for travelling and trading the way I wanted.
So before I'd even properly started, I had to stop.
Looking back, I probably wasn't ready either. I had ambition, but nowhere near the experience I have today.
Over the years that followed, I kept building that experience managing teams, multiple locations, high-volume food operations, sales, standards, costs and customer service. At one point, I was responsible for 27 branded food locations generating more than £200,000 in combined weekly sales.
But I never forgot about having something of my own.
And eventually, Mr X Food Co was born. ❤️
# # # Why gyros?
Quite simply... I LOVE gyros. 😂
Since moving to the UK, I've always struggled to find a really good gyros close to home. There are absolutely some great places out there but around where I live, getting the kind of gyros I really enjoy normally means travelling for it.
After eating more gyros than I probably should admit 😂, I knew exactly what I wanted Mr X to be about:
Simple food. Great flavour. Generous portions. Done properly.
I'm not trying to reinvent gyros. I just want to serve the kind that makes you finish it and think, “Yeah... I'd have that again.”
And Mr X isn't something I'm building just for a little extra income. Of course I want it to become successful, but after spending years helping large businesses grow, there's something completely different about putting that experience, energy and passion into building something that belongs to me.
This trailer means a lot because it's where that journey finally started. No matter where Mr X goes in the future, I hope this little trailer will always remain part of the business.
And I definitely have bigger plans.
My ambition is to grow Mr X, eventually take it into permanent locations, and give more people the opportunity to discover what I believe a really good gyros should taste like.
For now, though, I'm enjoying building it one customer, one event and one gyros at a time.
So if you see the Mr X trailer somewhere, come over and say hello.
I'm Mo 😊 and this is only the beginning of Mr X Food Co. 🌯🔥
