Some of our members visited The South of England Show yesterday!

An amazing well done to all the members who attended, we had some members showing in young handlers and a member showing her own sheep at the show.

A huge thank you for the leaders Nick and Jess for letting our members take their coloured Rylands in sheep young handlers and to Emma and James from Harry Hawkins & Partners who let one of our members show their homebred Simmental heifer, Chates Sovereign Empress.

Once showing was done our members had fun on the showground ground with waltzers and bumper cars and watching the other exhibitors. They even got to take a picture with Trev from the sheep show!

The day ended with some of our members volunteering to carry parade boards in the grand parade.

✨ What a fantastic day at the Heathfield Show! 🤩🐑

A huge well done to all of our members, who did an amazing job showing our leaders Jess and Nick’s sheep in both Young Handlers and Wool on the Hoof classes. Their hard work, dedication and excellent stockmanship really shone through today! 👏

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate some great results, bringing home 3rd place in Wool on the Hoof 🏅🎉

We'd also like to say an enormous thank you to Niccola Botwright from Aygo Texels for allowing one of our members, Mia, to show a pedigree Texel ram lamb in Young Handlers! The pair went on to place 3rd in a huge and very tough class! 🥳🥉

We've had a fantastic day on the farm for our first New Members' Day! 🤩🐑

We were delighted to welcome 14 interested young people and their families down to the farm to meet our members and animals and learn what SWAN YFC is all about!

Both first-time visitors and existing members got the chance to watch our sheep being shorn ready for the summer as well as joining in with a farm scavenger hunt and some icebreaker games!

We'd like to say an ENORMOUS thank you to Finn Selby-Green for shearing our sheep for us and to all those who attended the day.

Today our team attended the Detling show ground for Living Land.
Our members engaged with primary school children, teaching them about livestock and farming. Everyone had an incredible time educating the kids and having fun. The Suffolks, Ali and Julie, also enjoyed the attention and affection they received.
Our members cant wait to come back next year !!

🚨 New Members' Day This Sunday!🚨

With a recent increase in enquiries about joining SWAN YFC, we have decided to hold a New Members' Day this Sunday!

If you're aged 10-28 and looking to meet new friends, learn about animals and take part in fun competitions, come along and see what we're all about.

Find us on the alleyway between Cudworth Road and Curtis Road in South Willesborough, Ashford, TN24 0BB.

Please note, for this first session, we ask that a parent or guardian remains on site for potential new members under 16 years of age.

On Sunday, our members were busy with various activities. They began by trimming the ewes' feet and training the lambs with halters in preparation for the Kent County Show. There were also plenty of lamb cuddles to go around.
After this , some members started working on their animal books with guidance from Katie, getting ready for the Kent show.

Yesterday our team visited the farm to train the beef X calves, Vixen and Ivy, kindly lent to us by Warnocks for the Kent County Show .
The members had a blast learning cattle handling and show techniques! A huge thank you to Warnocks for the opportunity - we're all incredibly grateful ☺️
