Day 4 of harvest today 🍇 Last night was all about the preparation - acids checked, crates loaded, refreshments sorted, plan confirmed… then THIS flew over 👀✈️

It was a real team effort last night …. Donna was out with the temp chemistry lab doing acid + sugar checks before we agreed the picking plan 😅, Darren had the tractor rumbling up and down the rows followed by John laying crates out ready for this morning, and Kelly was making sure we had refreshments and snacks ready for tomorrow, because harvest doesn't run on grapes alone.

And then, completely out of nowhere, we got buzzed by the most enormous military plane 👀✈️ anyone know what that was?!

This is the last of the grapes heading to our w**emaker to make more of the award-winning estate w**es you all know and love.

Next harvest , maybe later this week, the grapes are staying right here, and we're making some w**e on site ourselves, including the Pinot Noir we've been talking to you about 🍷 more on that very soon 👀

Honestly, we're still buzzing from last week - here's the roundup - swipe to see some of the highlights 🍇🥂

Day 2 and Day 3 of our first harvest couldn't have been more different if they tried.

Harvest Day 2, it rained all day, properly rained but our amazing professional pickers weren't phased one bit, working alongside us right through it, and we finished picking for all our planned sparkling w**es 🌧️💪

Day 3 was our Woodchurch Vineyard volunteer day, and the forecast said wet again... despite this everyone showed up and somehow we got sunshine instead! Honestly, the atmosphere was electric. Working side by side, new friendships were made, numbers exchanged, a birthday was celebrated, and 3 tonnes of grapes picked. Volunteers travelled from just down the road, from south east London, Folkestone, and even one from Australia 🇦🇺 Mike put on a fabulous woodfired pizza buffet, and his new rosemary roasted potatoes were the talk of the day!! Huge shout out to Mike & Alex who kept the tasting rooms open so the four of us plus "the kids" and Paul could focus fully on harvest 🙌

In the tasting room, visitor numbers were a quieter this week than we've seen over the summer so we just want to confirm: we're here and will be fully open Thursday to Sunday, all year round!!

New menu, events and gifting ideas are coming very soon, and keep an eye out for some interactive polls this week - we'd love your input! 👀

Those who did pop in were treated to real mid-harvest magic - grapes still hanging heavy on the vines, prep happening all around, and the hum of the tractor in the background. For quite a few, it was their first ever visit, having found us through the Taste of Kent Awards announcement - yes, we're finalists in two categories: Casual Food & Drink Experience of the Year and Kent W**e of the Year!! 🏆

And we are off - Harvest Day 3 has officially started!! 🍇

Friends, couples, individuals wanting to fulfil the dream of being part of a harvest, even someone celebrating a birthday out here with us - we are so grateful to everyone who turned up this morning. Honestly, the support has been amazing 🥰

We're open as usual, Alex and Mike will be here to give you the full Woodchurch welcome. You will spot the four of us buzzing about too, today our focus is firmly on the harvest - buckets, boots, and all!

It's a beautiful morning here at Woodchurch, and the weather forecast is telling us it's going to be a lovely one 🌤️ Why not pop in for a glass of our award-winning w**e and soak it all up?

Happy Friday! 🍇

It's been a busy week at the vineyard, but honestly, we know it's been a busy one for you all too - kids back at school, holidays ending (or just starting for some!), routine and rhythm settling back in. Sounds like exactly the reason to celebrate, if you ask us and don't forget the joy a trip to the vineyard can bring 🥂

Our wood-fired pizza oven is fired up today, and alongside our cheese, charcuterie and Mediterranean boards we have our tapas style small plates, dishes include;

🍇 What a week we had last week at Woodchurch Vineyard! 🥂 swipe through to see it all …

Day one of our first harvest last Tuesday! Huge thanks to Sean, Lee, Tami, Rob and Adrian who joined us (plus "our kids" & friends) - couldn't have done it without you all! 💪🍇

Thursday, Kelly welcomed a gorgeous group celebrating Ladies in Banking - w**e tasting, followed by a two-course w**e-paired lunch featuring our newly released Field White 2024, then out onto the balcony for stunning vineyard views (not a bad spot for networking!). 🥂

Friday's hot topic? Hot air balloons! Over one of our w**e flights (honestly!) we discovered one of our w**e club members once crossed the Channel in her own hot air balloon. You never know what you'll learn over a glass here! 🎈

Saturday, John & Donna ran two tasting tours at once in the sunshine, a glamorous "Cowgirl/Farmer" hen-do tucked into Woodchurch Classic with pizza and salad 🤠🥂, plus birthdays, old friends catching up, and the Kent Basset Waddle group popping by to scope out a future route 🐾

Harvest's only just begun and we're watching those sugars like hawks and there’s lots of prep - Darren, Jasper and Martha rounded off the week laying baskets in the rows, ready for more picking this week.

Oh, and we're now finalists in two Taste of Kent Awards categories! 🤞✨

Woodchurch W**e Estate is just 20 minutes by taxi from Ashford International (only 30 mins from London on the High Speed train). There are 6 more vineyards less than 5 miles from our cellar door - the nearest just a mile away at the end of a peaceful walk along a meandering country footpath.
