PREP DAY 👩🏾‍🍳

This is where the real work started. 😂

After shopping for everything we needed, it was time to turn all those ingredients into food.

Proteins cleaned, seasoned, cooked, fried and ready for the next stage. Turkey, hake, assorted meats, one thing after another.

And if you’ve ever catered for an event, you already know prep day is not for the weak. 😭

There’s so much that happens before the first tray of food makes it to the buffet.

LET’S GO SHOPPING 🛒

Now that the menu had been agreed and the plans were coming together, it was time to actually buy everything. 😂

Remember, this was an intimate 45th birthday celebration for 35 guests, but I was catering for 50 so there was still quite a bit to shop for.

Rice, meat, fish, vegetables, peppers, tomatoes, drinks, water, ingredients for the snacks and somehow the shopping trolley just kept getting fuller. 😭

This is the part people don’t always see when they see the finished buffet.

A lot of planning goes into knowing how much to buy, what to buy and how to stay within the agreed budget without compromising the food.

And yes all of this eventually ended up in my kitchen. 😂
