What a day 👀🔥🌾

A huge thank you to everybody who came along to our BBQ by the Butchers on Saturday! 🎶🍻

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day happen; our team, local businesses, musicians and every single person who attended.

We’ve loved seeing all of your photos and videos being shared over the weekend too 📸 If you captured any moments from the day, please keep tagging us as we genuinely love seeing the event through your eyes.

A small note for future events: as a family-run business, we work hard to keep entry, entertainment and activities free for everyone to enjoy. To help us continue doing that, we kindly ask that visitors don’t bring their own food and drink to our events, and instead support us by purchasing food and drinks on-site or by supporting the fantastic local traders attending.

As a reminder, dogs are not permitted at our events due to the livestock on our working farm. We appreciate your understanding and support with this.

Anyway... the countdown is already on for our next BIG event! 👀🔥

If someone tells you wool is bad for the environment because of sheep methane, they're only telling you half the story.

Yes, sheep produce methane. That's true. But here's the part they leave out:

Roughly 50% of wool's weight is biogenic carbon. This is carbon that's part of the natural carbon cycle — not fossil fuel carbon. The sheep converts grass (which pulls CO2 from the atmosphere) into fibre. That fibre then stores carbon. The carbon is just cycling through nature, not accumulating in the atmosphere.

Compare that to synthetics: every synthetic garment requires petroleum extraction, chemical processing, and manufacturing energy. That's new carbon being added to the atmosphere — carbon that's been locked underground for millions of years.

Wool is renewable. The carbon cycle regenerates every year. Synthetics are extractive. The carbon is permanent.

Now, is sheep farming perfect? No. Modern agriculture has challenges. But the solution isn't to switch to synthetics — it's to support better sheep farming. Farming that focuses on land management, animal welfare, and sustainable practices.

The brands and farmers doing this well aren't hiding from the carbon conversation. They're leading it. Because they know that premium wool production can actually be better for the environment than the alternative.

When you choose wool, you're choosing to support farmers who are thinking about these things. You're choosing to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Quality really does start at the source📍
Our lamb is reared right here, with care, time and proper farming.
From field to fork, it’s all about doing things the right way.
That’s what makes the difference 🐑

"Have we lost sight of what real food is worth?”
A flat white in some cafés now costs £4.95 without much hesitation.

But £4.95 for naturally grazed herbal ley lamb raised slowly on pasture?
That suddenly feels expensive.

Behind every pack of lamb in our butchers is daily care, all year round.
Animals raised on grass. Farms working with the seasons. Early mornings, late nights and no days off.

And nutritionally, properly raised meat provides high-quality protein alongside essential nutrients like iron, zinc, omega-3 and vitamin B12.

This isn’t ultra-processed convenience food. It’s real British food from real British farms 🇬🇧

Maybe instead of asking:
“Why is lamb so expensive?”

We start asking:
“How do we reconnect with real food… and begin to value it again?”

There’ll always be room for coffee ☕
But let’s not forget lamb.
(And beef, chicken and pork too.)
