😂 Things I’ve apparently been responsible for at the farm this week…

Just to clarify, I currently have absolutely no control over:

🚗 Accidents on the motorway that make you late.

🚧 The roadworks around the farm that make you late.

🪧 You ignoring the signs saying “BUSINESS OPEN AS USUAL” and then getting lost.

📧 You emailing me at 8 p.m. and being angry that I haven’t replied by 8 a.m. Apparently, sleeping is now considered poor customer service!

🎟️ You buying a third-party voucher instead of booking through our website, then being annoyed that you can’t use it there and then.

📜 You not reading the terms and conditions before ticking the box to confirm that you have read them.

🌧️☀️💨 The British weather. Rain, sunshine, wind or a suspicious-looking cloud—I promise I didn’t arrange it personally.

📅 You deciding at the last minute that you no longer like the weather and want to change your booking.

🪧 You not seeing the four-foot sign outside the shop saying “PLEASE BOOK IN HERE.” I’m considering making the next one visible from space.

🚪 You not realising that you need to walk through the front gate to enter the farm. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have a teleportation system.

⏰ You arriving 20 minutes late and then leaving a poor review because your experience had already started.

Running a farm means caring for lots of animals, but I hadn’t realised I was also responsible for motorways, roadworks, emails, clocks, voucher companies, reading comprehension, gates and the entire British climate.

I’ll try harder next week. 😂🦙

🐾 A quick note about children attending our animal experiences 🦙🐷🫏🦦

We often get asked whether children under 13 can take part in one of our experiences while their parent or guardian watches from the side.

For all of our animal experiences, children under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult who takes part in the experience with them.

This isn’t simply a ticketing rule – it’s there for some really important reasons. ❤️

🐾 Animals can be unpredictable – even our friendliest animals can suddenly move, jump, pull or react to something around them.

👩‍👧 Children remain the responsibility of their accompanying adult – our staff are there to lead the experience, talk about the animals and make sure everyone interacts with them safely. They cannot take on sole responsibility for supervising individual children.

🦙 Some experiences require physical support – for example, an alpaca may suddenly pull or change direction, so younger children may need an adult alongside them to help.

❤️ It protects both our visitors and our animals – having an adult actively involved helps us make sure interactions stay calm, safe and enjoyable for everyone.

For these reasons, every child under 13 must have a paying adult accompanying them on the experience. An adult watching from outside the experience does not count as supervision.

We completely understand that parents sometimes don't particularly want to feed a meerkat, walk an alpaca or get quite as close to a pig as their child does! 😄 But the adult ticket is necessary because you are taking part as your child's responsible adult, even if they're the one having most of the fun.

Thank you for understanding and helping us keep Lucky Tails a safe and enjoyable place for our children, visitors and animals. 🦙💚

🚧 ROADWORKS ON DEXTER LANE – WE ARE OPEN AS NORMAL! 🦙 🚧

Just a quick heads-up for anyone visiting us today.

There are currently roadworks on Dexter Lane, but you CAN still get through to Lucky Tails Alpaca Farm.

When you reach the roadworks, simply let them know that you are visiting the alpaca farm and they will allow you through. 🦙🐐🐷

Please allow a little extra time for your journey, just in case of any delays.

🐑 A little reminder from the farm! 🦙💚

All children under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult during their visit.

We know our animals are adorable, but they're still animals! They can be unpredictable at times, and children need an adult they know to help supervise them and keep everyone safe.

Our team are here to look after the animals, run the experiences, and make sure everyone has an amazing day. Unfortunately, we can't provide childcare while also ensuring all our visitors have the best possible experience.

This is also a requirement of our insurance and safety procedures, so there are no exceptions.
