Dennings Down Farm

Dennings Down Farm A Small Organic Family Cattle and Sheep Farm, 2 miles north of Axminster. We believe this allows our animals to grow up slowly and naturally.

We raise our home born Cattle and sheep within our 70 hectare Award winning Organic farm. We are proud to be one of only one hundred UK farms to be registered as Pasture For Life. Pasture For Life certification means all our animals are raised on grass alone, no supplementary feeding using maize or any other feeds. On the farm we encourage wildflower meadows to thrive for grazing along with hay ma

king, mixed herbal lays for silage and grazing pastures. This approach to wildlife management and conservation won Hamish Bengough the FWAG Bronze Otter Award 2017. One of our big passions is being able to introduce people to such an important way of farming. We welcome visitors from community groups and participate in open farm Sunday.

What a lovely autumn day looking at seed dispersal. The group foraged some wonderful examples of the clever ways that plants are designed to spread their seeds far and wide, we applauded the sheep for doing their bit carrying seeds all over their fleeces and finished by making hedgerow jam...also full of seeds! Thanks to FIPL funding a new camping stove we can cook our foraged finds outdoors. Soon it will be time for pumpkin soup by the pumpkin patch.

If you would like to find out more about bringing your school or community group to the farm then please get in touch, every season has so much to see!
