We're really excited to share that affo has been shortlisted for the Great British Food Awards 2026!

With thousands of entries across the awards, our coconut soft-serve has made it into the final 24 products in the Ice Cream category, representing just 12 ice cream businesses in the country.

When we started affo, the idea was simple. We wanted to create a coconut soft-serve that was delicious on its own, but could also hold its own against a shot of espresso.

There's been a lot of work behind the scenes to get the recipe to where it is today, so seeing affo recognised alongside some brilliant British ice cream makers is a really special moment for us.

The winners will be announced on 6th October, so we'll have more to share very soon!

Spent the day at the Ice Cream & Artisan Food Show 2026.

Some seriously impressive equipment on show, but the best part was getting to meet and chat with other people in the ice cream industry.

The show is probably 95% gelato, so it was particularly good to find the other soft-serve people in the room and nerd out over machines, texture, freezing and all the tiny things that make a surprisingly big difference.

Perhaps not surprisingly, every soft serve we came across was vanilla, so it's nice to know we're doing something a little different with our coconut mix.

We also sampled enough ice cream to make me feel like I should probably go for a run.

Stage 2. Let's go 🍦☕

It's looked a little quiet on here recently...but behind the scenes it's been anything but. We've been laying the foundations to take affo into its next chapter: small batch manufacturing for other brilliant businesses so they can create our gorgeous signature affogatos themselves.

The uptake over the last year has been so positive that we can't bring affo ice cream solo to you anymore - which feels like a very nice problem to have. So we're scaling but carefully: still artisanal, still entirely in-house, still local and still made the exact same way to keep the quality and mixture perfected.

This means you'll start finding affo in more permanent spots, so you can come back again and again (as many of you have asked ❤️)
