For well over a decade we have been proudly showcasing Tomintoul and Glencadam Single Malts.

Owning these two distinct single malt distilleries Angus Dundee Distillers has a strong reputation and a growing number of awards, including multiple gold and double gold medals at the International Spirits Challenge.

In our shop you can explore a wide range from our local (second by distance) Tomintoul distillery and their sister Glencadam known for maintaining traditional, unchanged production methods for nearly two centuries, including using two pot stills since its inception.

See our Scotchy bring the Highland thunder at 3pm on Sunday 7th June. Arrive from 11am on The Greens for craft, food and trade stalls plus kids’ rides — then have a flutter on the tote and back the tartan torpedo of the Dee.

A tartan clad traditionalist with a proud Highland quack, Scotchy barrels down the river with the determination of a duck who’s seen too many ceilidhs and refuses to be out danced or out raced. Known for shouting “ALBA GU BRÀTH!” as he surges past competitors, Scotchy treats every bend of the River Dee like a dance floor — and every splash like a standing ovation. If you hear the battle quack, it’s already too late: he’s coming through.

Happy International Women's Day everybody, here's a story about Scotland's greatest ever warrior - the female fighter Scáthach who lived at Dunscaith Castle on Skye!

Her famous skill with weapons had spread across the water to Cú Chulainn in Ireland, who wasn't happy somebody was considered a better swordsperson than him! The Irish demi-god challenged Scáthach to prove once and for all who was strongest.

They battled fiercely for days and the fight was on a knife edge, this wasn't going to stop until one of them was dead. Scáthach's daughter Uathach began to worry that her mother would slip up and be killed. Her opponent was a demigod after all!

The girl came to the River Sligachan and begged the fairies of Skye to help her mother. Uathach wept into the water as the sound of the battle raged over the island and the fairies were moved by her sorrow. The fairy queen told her to wash her face and be blessed with the knowledge she needed to bring peace again to the island.

As soon as she dipped into the water, Uathach knew what to do, rushing back to Dunscaith to prepare a feast. She used the richest ingredients and the best spices, so before long, a delicious smell spread to the still fighting warriors. Their stomachs began to rumble and they realised how long it had been since their last meal.

Agreeing to a truce, they entered the castle hall to sit down and eat together. At the same moment, they both realised that they had just broken bread together. As a guest in Scáthach's home, Cú Chulainn couldn't fight her now out of respect and tradition. They would have to accept the battle was a draw.

It’s said that Uathach left a bit of magic behind in the water at Sligachan. Reach down to submerge your face completely in the water for 7 seconds, leave it to dry naturally without wiping any off and the fairies will grant you eternal beauty.

Well...it's never done me much good, but maybe it just works for the ladies!
