Cattle moved into a front paddock this evening to graze it down.🐂 One of these beasts is going to slaughter next week and then back to the farm shop.

That is real traceability.

Picking flowers for the bags of salad leaves we sell in the farm shop.🌱🌸

The contents depend on what is looking best in the garden and what I’m in a mood to pick, but they’re always generously filled with really tasty, fresh leaves.

Today’s selection includes little gem and baby leaf lettuce, rocket, green and red frills, purslane, French sorrel and, of course, bright nasturtium flowers.

So at the end of the day yesterday, along with a few stragglers, we stood and watched the silage being baled. (Farming runs to its own timetable.)

Watching others work, while we lapped up the sunshine, was the best wind down to a busy open farm weekend.
